The Kings were by far the more physical team and that's important when handicapping the Stanley Cup Finals. The team that had more hits in the playoffs has won the Cup nine out of the past 10 seasons. LA leads the playoffs with a whopping 898 hits of which Dustin Brown has been credited with 104. The Rangers are the next closest club with a total of 587. The LA Kings also have the No. 1 home defense in all of Hockey. The NY Rangers defeated weaker foes in this year's playoffs. The Stars are vastly improved and extremely motivated this season. The Panthers have played in the worst divison (Southeast) in all of Hockey and will be hard pressed to even win half their games this year. Florida is also nicked up and will be missing several key players. Take the home team!

The LA Kings have a losing record on the road. The LA Kings defeated the Sharks in 7 games despite getting out-shot 205-173. San Jose also had nearly 20 more scoring chances than the LA Kings. Chicago can beat teams in many different ways and have been awesome at home. They out-shot the Red Wings 238-199, but were pushed to the brink. They will be focused in this game. Look for the Blackhawks to win game one and the Stanley Cup Finals.

The Sharks could easily be up 2-0 but the puck gods have not been with them. San Jose has 15 more shots-on-goal and 12 more scoring chances than the LA Kings after the first two games. The Sharks defense at home has been suffocating all season (1.92 GAA) and their offense picks up too at nearly 3 goals per game. Look for the home team to improve to 12-1 in this series of late.

The Red Wings are focused on snapping their 2-game home losing streak, both by one goal. Detroit is 8-2 vs. Phoenix of late and will bring in the better defense. Detroit is in the No. 9 spot out West and have been to the playoffs for 21 straight seasons. The Coyotes have a big revenge game on deck vs. San Jose. I would expect a strong effort from the Red Wings tonight.

The Capitals have the No. 4 power play unit in the NHL at 24.7 percent.
The nicked-up Panthers are an NHL worst minus-24 in Goal Differential. Florida has 9 players listed on the injury report including No. 1 Goalie, Jose Theodore. Backup Goalie, Jacob Markstrom is 3-7-1 in his career. Washington has won five straight against Southeast teams and six in a row at home against Florida. Make it 7!
