06-21-21 | Reds -111 v. Twins | Top | 5-7 | Loss | -111 | 20 h 55 m | Show |
The Cincinnati Reds hope that this new IL series starting today in Minnesota will break their 4-game losing streak. The Reds are now four games back of the Cubs and Brewers who are tied for 1st in the NL Central. The Reds were swept by the Padres in their four game series, including Sunday's loss 2-3. Meanwhile, the Twins have won four straight games, but still are 12.5-games back of the White Sox in the AL Central. The Reds start Tyler Mahle today. Mahle is 7-2 in his 14 starts with a nice 3.27 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 5-1 record and 1.45 ERA. J.A. Happ starts for the Twins. Happ is 3-3 in his 12 starts with a lofty 6.12 ERA. Happ has allowed at least four runs in six of his last seven starts. I look for the Reds behind Mahle to get back in the win column today. Play Cincinnati. |

Both starters have been very good, but Akin plays for a terrible Baltimore team while Civale has the benefit of playing on a good Indians club. Play Cleveland. |
|||||||

The Mets have the best run differential in the division with a +20. The Chicago Cubs are tied for first place in the NL Central with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Cubs have the best run differential in the division with a +40. The Cubs start Alec Mills today. Mills started one game this year at Milwaukee and went four innings allowing two runs. The Washington Nationals having a disappointing season as they sit in last in the AL East, though they are just seven games back of 1st place NY Mets. The Pirates start J.T. Brubaker today. Brubaker is 4-5 in his 11 starts with a 3.90 ERA and slightly worse 4.91 road ERA. Washington starts veteran Jon Lester today. Lester is 0-2 in his eight starts with a 4.19 ERA. He's pitched well of late though with just three total runs allowed over his last three starts (13 2/3 innings). I'll take the Nationals against this reeling Pirates team. Play Washington. |

Martinez is 3-6 in his 11 starts with a 6.21 ERA. He's been even worse on the road with a 1-4 record and 7.04 ERA. Martinez has allowed 15 runs over his last 4 2/3 innings of work. The Cubs will start Zach Davies today. Davies is 3-3 in his last 13 starts with a 4.45 ERA and a slightly better 3.52 ERA at home. Davies has allowed one or no runs in three of his last four starts. Cubs should have little trouble in this one day against a slumping red bird team with a poor starter on the hill. Play Chicago. |
|||||||

Garcia is 5-2 with a nifty 2.72 ERA on the season. He's allowed two runs or fewer in each of his last five starts. The Twins send Jose Berrios to the hill. Berrios is 6-2 for the Twins in 12 starts with a 3.58 ERA. He hasn't been as good at home with a 4.71 ERA. Astros have been hot and they have a hot starter on the hill. Play Houston. |
|||||||

The Red Sox have climbed to within 1-game of the AL East lead as they have won two straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Jays start Steven Matz today. Matz is 6-3 in his 12 starts with a 4.50 ERA. Nick Pivetta will start for the Sox with a 6-1 record in his 12 starts and a 3.78 ERA. Both pitchers doing well, but I'll stick with the hotter team here in the Red Sox. |
|||||||

Gausman is a perfect 7-0 in his 12 starts with a nifty 1.27 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 0l71 ERA in his eight away games. The Nats will start Erick Fedde who is 3-4 in his eight starts with a 4.35 ERA. He's been worse at home with a 7.56 ERA in his four starts. The Royals are in their place in the AL Central, 7.5-games back of the White Sox. The Royals will start Brady Singer tonight. Singer is 3-5 in his 12 starts with a 4.88 ERA and 5.91 road ERA. Singer has allowed 12 runs over his last three starts (14 innings). Cole Irvin will toe the rubber for the A's. Irvin is 4-7 in his 12 starts with a 3.89 ERA. Irvine is coming off a nice start at Colorado where he allowed just one run over six innings for the Win. I'll take the A's here tonight at home with the slightly better starter on the hill. Play Oakland. |
|||||||
06-11-21 | Angels -134 v. Diamondbacks | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 7 m | Show
Interleague action here on Friday has the LA Angels vising the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Angels are in fourth in the AL West, 6-games back of division leading Oakland. The Angels have played much better of late, winning three straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Arizona Diamondbacks are done for this year, they play in the very competitive NL West where they are in last place, 19-games back. They have lost seven straight games and eight of their last 10 games. The Angels start Shohei Ohtani, who is 2-1 in his eight starts. Ohtani has a 2.76 ERA and has allowed more than two runs just once in his last five starts. Merrill Kelly starts for the D'backs. Kelly is 2-6 in his 12 starts with a 5.12 ERA. Kelly has allowed nine earned runs over his last 12 2/3 innings. Hard to be on the D'backs side as bad as they have played. Take the LA Angels. |
|||||||

The Royals are still in 3rd place in the AL Central, but have dropped back to 7.5-games back of the White Sox. The Angels have won two straight and seven of their last 10 games. They still sit in fourth in the AL West, 6.5-games back of the A's. Brad Keller will start today for the Royals. Keller is 6-4 in his 12 starts with a 5.50 ERA. However, Keller has been much better of late, allowing three earned runs or fewer in each of his last eight starts. Griffin Canning will start for the Halos. Canning is 3-4 in his nine starts with a 5.71 ERA. He's been a bit worse at home, posting a 6.35 ERA. We get a small dog price here today with the Royals who I believe have the better starter going. That makes this a live dog. Play Kansas City. |
|||||||
06-09-21 | Blue Jays v. White Sox -151 | Top | 6-2 | Loss | -151 | 9 h 24 m | Show |
The White Sox won their 2nd game in a row and seventh of their last 10 games with the win over the Jays on Tuesday, 6-1. They still hold a somewhat comfortable 4-game lead in the AL Central. The Jays have now lost two straight and have fallen back to 7-games behind AL East leading Tampa Bay. The Blue Jays will start Alek Manoah today. Manoah is 1-0 in his two starts and has a 3.86 ERA. After an initial start where he allowed just two hits and no runs to the Yankees he got bounced out early by the Marlins after 3 1/3 innings by allowing four hits and four run including three home runs. Lance Lynn toes the rubber for the Sox. Lynn having a excellent season with a 7-1 record after 10 starts and a 1.38 ERA with 0.937 WHIP. Lynn has not allowed more than two runs in any of his last six starts. Not a bad price here today with a excellent team and excellent starter. Play Chicago. |

The Mets took the short end of a 3-10 loss on Tuesday night at Baltimore. The loss dropped the Mets to 28-24 as they still sit atop the NL East, 2.5 games ahead of the Braves. The are out of the race in the A.L, now 16-games back in the East. However, they have still won two straight after Tuesday evening. The Mets look to send Taijuan Walker to the hill today. Walker is 4-2 in his 10 starts with a 2.17 ERA and 1.056 WHIP. Walker coming off one of his worst starts of the season, allowing seven hits and three earned runs in a 3-4 loss at San Diego. Matt Harvey will toe the rubber for the O's. Harvey is 3-6 in his 12 starts with a lofty 6.62 ERA. Harvey had one of his best starts last time out, but only went three innings. He allowed just two hits and one run to the Twins. I don't see the Mets losing two straight to the Orioles, especially against their one time starter in Harvey. Play New York. |
|||||||
06-08-21 | Astros v. Red Sox +110 | 7-1 | Loss | -100 | 7 h 7 m | Show
Houston Astros on the heals of the Oakland A's in the drive for first place in the AL West. The Astros trail the A's by just one game with third place Seattle 5-games back. The Sox will start Martin Perez. Perez is 4-2 in his 11 starts with a 3.089 ERA. Perez is coming off a strong 7 2/3 innings vs the Astros where he allowed six hits and no runs for the win. Perez just beat the Astros and I look for him to shut them down again at home. Play Boston. |

06-05-21 | Rays -144 v. Rangers | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 5 h 42 m | Show
The Tampa Bay Rays saw their lead in the AL East dip to just one-game after losing last night at the Texas Rangers, 4-5. The Rays have a better road record then at home. The Rays will start Rich Hill who is 4-2 on the season with a 3.32 ERA. Hill has allowed just three total runs over his last five starts (34 2/3 innings). The Rangers will start Kolby Allard who makes his second start of the season. Allard went four innings in his first start at Seattle, allowing just two hits and two runs but absorbing the loss. Hill and Rays are a lethal combination, one I won't miss on. Play Tampa Bay. |
|||||||

Urquidy is 4-2 on the season with a 3.02 ERA and 0.987 WHIP. Urquidy has allowed just three total runs over his last four starts (23 2/3 innings). Ross Stripling will start for the Jays. |||||||
06-04-21 | Twins v. Royals -116 | 5-14 | Win | 100 | 10 h 60 m | Show
Not many people would have thought the Twins would be in last place in the AL Central at this point of the season. But there they sit, 12-games back of the White Sox. They have lost three straight games, including last night to the Royals, 5-6. The Royals are in third place in the division, five games back of the White Sox. The Royals have won four straight games and seven of their last 10. The Twins will start Matt Shoemaker today. Shoemaker is 2-6 in his last 10 starts. Shoemaker has a 5.90 ERA and 1.431 WHIP. The Rangers will look to Kyle Gibson to turn their fortunes around. Gibson is 3-0 in his 10 starts with a 2.24 ERA. Gibson has been the best starter the Rangers have had. Josh Fleming will toe the rubber for the Rays. Fleming is 2-2 in his four starts with a nifty 1.69 ERA and a 0.00 ERA in his one road start. Have to side here with the Rays and Fleming. Gilbert is 0-2 in his three starts with a 7.59 ERA. He's even a bit worse at home with a 9.45 ERA. I like the A's here with Kaprielian on the hill. Play Oakland. |

05-31-21 | Red Sox v. Astros +101 | 2-11 | Win | 101 | 4 h 3 m | Show
The Boston Red Sox in a battle in the AL East with the Rays and Yankees. The Sox are in second place, 1-game back of the Rays. They have won three straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Houston Astros have dropped to 1.5-games back in the AL West behind the Oakland A's. The Astros are the only team in the West division with a positive run differential as they sit at +48 runs. Boston starts Eduardo Rodriguez today. Rodriguez is 5-3 in nine starts with a 5.06 ERA. Jose Urquidy will toe the rubber for the Astros. He's 3-2 in his eight starts with a 3.22 ERA and a slightly better 3.18 ERA at home. Urquidy hasn't allowed more than two runs in any of his last four starts. The Astros are home here with the better starter and as a small dog. I'll take that price and team. Play Houston. |
|||||||
05-31-21 | Rays +113 v. Yankees | 3-1 | Win | 113 | 1 h 58 m | Show

The Rays have won four straight and nine of their last 10 games to regain first in the East. The Rays also have the best run difference in the division with a +61. The Rays will start Rich Hill today. Hill is 3-2 in his 10 starts with a 3.63 ERA. Hill has not allowed more than two runs in any of his last six starts. Play Tampa Bay. |

Miami is in fourth in the NL East with a 24-27 record, just 3.5-games back of the Mets. The Red Sox will be fighting the rest of the way with the Rays and Yankees. The Sox are a half game back of the Rays. Miami starts Trevor Rogers today. Rogers has been great for the fish with a 6-2 record in his 10 starts and a 1.75 ERA. He has not allowed more than one run in any of his last four starts and six of the last seven. Nathan Eovaldi is 5-2 for the Sox after 10 starts with a 4.23 ERA and 1.175 WHIP. Miami a decent dog here today and with Rogers on the hill I have to take a shot with the dog here today as Rogers will have them in this to the end. Play Miami. |
|||||||
05-29-21 | Padres -140 v. Astros | 11-8 | Win | 100 | 8 h 36 m | Show
The NL West is a 3-team race and the San Diego Padres at the top right now with a 1.5-game lead over the Dodgers and Giants. The Padres beat the Astros on Friday to make them 8-2 over their last 10 games. The Houston Astros have dropped to 2nd place in the AL West thanks to a 4-6 stretch over the last 10 games. The Padres will start rejuvenated Yu Darvish. Darvish has had some down seasons of late but he is doing great this year. Darvish is 5-1 in his 10 starts with a nifty 1.75 ERA and 0.892 WHIP. 05-27-21 | Giants +115 v. Dodgers | 3-4 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 27 m | Show
The Giants looking to get back into 1st place in the NL West after occupying that spot for much of the early season. The Giants have played well, winning seven of their last 10. But the Dodgers and Padres have played even better. The Giants will turn to former Dodger Alex Wood. Wood has been great with a 5-1 record in his seven starts with a 1.93 ERA. Wood has not allowed more than two runs in any of his seven starts. The Dodgers have been living on a 4-starter rotation, but tonight they get back what could be a key cog in David Price. Price went two innings against the Diamondbacks back on May 20th, allowing three hits and no runs. Price was on the IL with a hamstring injury and was expected to miss 6 to 8 weeks. Until I see how this long layoff has effected Price, I will not be on his side. Plus the Dodgers bullpen has been taking some injuries of late and you know Price won't go long tonight. Take San Francisco. |
|||||||

Howard has just one start this year and he allowed two runs over three innings in a loss to Boston, 3-4. The Marlins will start Pablo Lopez. Lopez has been very good this year, though his 1-3 record doesn't reflect his success. Lopez has 10 starts and a 2.73 ERA. He's been great at home with a 0.61 ERA in five starts and a 0.910 WHIP. Lopez has allowed just two runs over his last 12 innings with two walks and 11 KO's. The Marlins playing great and have a excellent starter on the hill. Play Miami. |

05-26-21 | Giants -115 v. Diamondbacks | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 19 h 4 m | Show
NL West action here on Wednesday Night as the 3rd place Giants take on the last place Diamondbacks. San Fran has been in first a good portion of this early season. However, with both the Padres and Dodgers winning nine of their last 10 games, the Giants have fallen to 1.5-games back in the division. The D'backs are now 13-games back in the division and falling fast as they have lost nine straight games. The Giants will start Johnny Cueto, who is 3-1 on the season with a 3.34 ERA. Arizona will start Merrill Kelly, who is 2-5 in his nine starts with a 5.05 ERA. Giants still a very good team while the D'back are already out of it in this competitive division. Play San Francisco. |
|||||||
05-26-21 | Padres -122 v. Brewers | 2-1 | Win | 100 | 8 h 21 m | Show
The Padres and Brewers have split the first two games of this series, with San Diego losing the opener 3-5 and winning last night, 7-1. The Brewers are just 4-6 over their last 10 games. The Padres will start Chris Paddack tonight. Paddack is 2-3 in his eight starts, but has a nice 2.97 ERA. Paddack has been very good of late, allowing just two runs over his last three starts (13 innings). The Brewers will counter with Eric Lauer who is 1-1 after just two starts. Lauer has a nice 1.64 ERA in his two starts. Padres just too hot of a team right now to pass on a matchup like this one. I'll take the visitors here. Play San Diego |
|||||||
05-26-21 | Braves v. Red Sox -135 | 5-9 | Win | 100 | 8 h 51 m | Show

Yang has 10 KO's against his five walks. The Angels will counter with Andrew Heaney. Heaney is 1-3 in his eight starts with a 5.31 ERA and 1.257 WHIP. Heaney has allowed nine earned runs ove rhis last 8 1/3 innings. I'll take the Rangers here this evening against a poor Angels team with a poor starter on the hill. Play Texas. |
|||||||
05-25-21 | Indians -135 v. Tigers | Top | 4-1 | Win | 100 | 9 h 20 m | Show |
The Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers began their set with the Indians pulling out a 1-run victory on Monday, 6-5. The Indians remained 1.5-games back of first place Chicago White Sox in the AL Central. Meanwhile, the Detroit Tigers have lost three in a row and are in last place in the division, 9.5-games back. Cleveland will start Aaron Civale today. Civale is having a fine season with a 6-1 record in his nine starts and a 3.30 overall ERA. He'll go against Detroit starter Tarik Skubal. Skubal is 1-5 in his seven starts with a 5.85 ERA. Have to lay a bit of a price here on the road, but the Indians with Civale looks like a mismatch to me. Play Cleveland. |
|||||||
05-24-21 | Padres v. Brewers -105 | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 17 h 4 m | Show
The Milwaukee Brewers host the San Diego Padres as these two teams open their series tonight. The Brewers have dropped to third in the NL Central, three-games back of division leading St Louis. The Brewers have won two straight games. The Padres start Blake Snell here tonight. Snell is 1-0 in his nine starts with the team just 4-5 in those same starts. Snell has pitched well with a 3.79 ERA, but that goes up to 6.75 on the road in his four away starts. The Brewers start Brandon Woodruff tonight. Woodruff is 2-2 in his nine starts, with the team 6-3 in those starts. Woodruff has been very solid with a 1.58 ERA and 0.737 WHIP overall this season. In fact, Woodruff hasn't allowed more than two runs in any start expect his opening day start where he allowed three runs. Moreover, in the other eight starts he's allowed one run or fewer in seven of those starts. The Padres are hot, but Woodruff has been the best the Brewers have and I'll take the host in this one. Play Milwaukee. |
|||||||
05-24-21 | Orioles +100 v. Twins | 3-8 | Loss | -100 | 17 h 3 m | Show
The Baltimore Orioles look to snap a six-game losing streak here tonight at Minnesota. The O's are the only team in the AL East with a negative run differential (-47). They sit 11-games back and look to be fading fast in a competitive East. The one brightspot for the O's is tonight's starter in John Means. Not only did Means toss a No-hitter on May 5th at Seattle, but he's 4-0 in his nine starts with a 1.70 ERA. He's been even better on the road with a 0.66 ERA in his six starts and a 3-0 record. The Twins held of the Indians last night for the road win at Cleveland, 5-4. The Twins are 5-5 in their last 10 games and are in last in the AL Central with a 17-29 record. Matt Shoemaker starts tonight with a 2-5 record and 6.08 ERA. His home ERA is even higher at 7.37 with an 0-4 record. These teams have identical records, but the difference tonight is a big one and that's starters. Take the Orioles. |

05-24-21 | Phillies v. Marlins -120 | 6-9 | Win | 100 | 16 h 4 m | Show
The Philadelphia Phillies have struggled here of late, winning just three of their last 10 games. Still, they are just 1.5 games back of first place NY Mets in the NL East. The Marlins are right behind them, two-games back despite having a sub-.500 record at 22.24. The NL East looks to be the weakest of all MLB divisions. The Phils start Zach Eflin here today. Eflin is 2-3 in his nine starts with a 3.77 ERA. That goes up on the road where he has a 5.68 ERA over four starts. The Marlins will counter with Trevor Rogers. Rogers is 6-2 in nine starts with a nifty 1.74 ERA. That improves even more at home with a 1.69 ERA. Rogers has allowed just one run in each of his last three games. In fact, he's allowed six runs over his last five starts. Marlins look to have the big edge on the hill in this one. Play Miami. |
|||||||
05-23-21 | Brewers -112 v. Reds | 9-4 | Win | 100 | 3 h 31 m | Show

Freddy Peralta starts for the Brewers with a 4-1 record after eight starts. Peralta has a 2.51 ERA and 0.814 WHIP. Moreover, he's allowed no runs over his last 13 innings with 2 walks and 16 KO's. Luis Castillo has struggled a lot for the Reds. Castillo is 1-6 after nine starts with a 7.44 ERA and 1.795 WHIP. He's also allowed 15 runs over his last 12 2/3 innings of work. I'll take the road team here with the much better starter on the hill. Play Milwaukee. |
|||||||
05-23-21 | Twins v. Indians -138 | Top | 8-5 | Loss | -138 | 3 h 31 m | Show |
AL Central clash today between 2nd place Cleveland Indians and the last place Minnesota Twins. Disappointing season thus far for the Twins as they sit in last place with a 16-29 record and 10.5 games back of the White Sox. The Indians are 24-19 and in second place, 1.5 games back of the White Sox. The Twins start J.A. Happ today who is 2-2 after seven starts with a 5.35 ERA. He's been even worse on the road with a 1-1 record and 7.54 ERA. Zach Plesac will toe the rubber for the Indians. Plesac is 4-3 after nine starts with a 3.93 ERA. He's been a bit better at home with a 2.93 ERA. Twins don't install much confidence in me. However, the Indians do, especially with a solid Plesac on the hill. Take Cleveland |
|||||||
05-22-21 | Diamondbacks -113 v. Rockies | 6-7 | Loss | -113 | 5 h 47 m | Show
The Arizona Diamondbacks have lost six straight games and nine of their last 10 games to drop to 4th in the NL West, 10.5 games back of the Giants and Padres. The only team behind them? That would be today's opponent, Colorado. The Rockies are 12 games back in the NL West after a 4-6 record their last 10 games. The D'backs will start Madison Bumgarner today. He has a 4-3 record in his nine starts with a 4.15 ERA. Bumgarner has been very good of late, allowing no more than two runs in any of his last six starts. Antonio Senzatela will go for the Rockies today. Senzatela is 1-4 in his eight starts with a 5.18 ERA. Two teams both looking to go no where the way they are playing this year. But Bumgarner has looked good and I will take him here today. Play Arizona. |
|||||||

This is a tough NL West matchup tonight as the 1st place San Francisco Giants take on the surging LA Dodgers. The Giants are holding a 1-game lead over the Padres and 2-games over the Dodgers. The Giants have won five straight and eight of 10 games. The Dodgers have won four straight and eight of the last 10. Trevor Bauer has been solid for LA thus far with a 4-2 record in nine starts and a 2.20 ERA. Ex-Dodger Alex Wood will toe the rubber for the Giants. Wood is 5-0 in his six starts with a 1.75 ERA. I'm looking at the value here and that's on the home dog Giants. |
|||||||

He's been about the same on the road with a 2-1 record and 2.51 ERA. The Rays will turn to Anthony Kay who is 0-2 in his three starts with a 6.35 ERA and 1.324 WHIP. Rays are hot and they have a solid pitcher on the hill. Play Tampa Bay. |
|||||||
05-20-21 | Red Sox +126 v. Blue Jays | 8-7 | Win | 126 | 8 h 43 m | Show
The Red Sox holding onto that first place in the AL East, but just by one game over Tampa Bay and 1 1/2 games over Toronto. The Blue Jays have won seven of their last 10 games while the Red Sox are 5-5 over their last 10 games. The Sox start Nick Pivetta today. Pivetta is a perfect 5-0 in his eight starts with a 3.16 ERA. He's been about as good on the road with a 3-0 record in three starts with a 3.18 ERA. The Jays will start ex-Met starter Steven Matz. Matz is 5-2 over his eight starts with a 4.29 ERA. Getting the Red Sox as a nice little dog here tonight. I give edges to the Sox overall and in starters. Play Boston. |
|||||||
05-19-21 | Marlins +114 v. Phillies | 3-1 | Win | 114 | 10 h 14 m | Show
Miami Marlins dropped their game at Philly on Tuesday, 3-8. The loss dropped the Marlins to 18-23 on the season and 4.5 games back of the NY Mets in the NL East. The Phils will counter with Zach Eflin. Eflin is 2-2 on the season with a 3.86 ERA and 1.169 WHIP. He is coming off a five run outing at Washington where he absorbed the loss. Rogers has been very good and I will take the Marlins as a small, live dog on Wednesday. Play Miami. |
|||||||

The Tampa Bay Rays have closed to just one-game back of the Red Sox for the lead in the crowded AL East. The top five teams are all within 1 1/2 games of first place. Only the Orioles are seven games back. The Rays beat the O's on Tuesday evening, 13-6. The toughest game of this set is here though for the Rays. They have to face Baltimore ace John Means. Not only did Means toss a no-hitter at Seattle back on May 5th, but he has now run his scoreless inning streak to 15 innings. In fact, if you go back five starts, he allowed just three runs over 35 1/3 innings. The Rays will counter with Ryan Yarbrough. Yarbrough is 0-3 on the season with a 6.75 ERA and 1.544 WHIP. Harbrough has allowed 11 runs over his last 12 innings of work. Huge advantage here today to the Orioles. If they win a game in this series, this is the one. Play Baltimore. |

The Giants will turn to Logan Webb here today. Webb is 2-3 after seven starts with a 4.86 ERA. He's been worse on the road with a 7.58 ERA after four starts. |||||||

The Sox will counter with Martin Perez. Perez is 0-2 in his seven starts with a 4.01 ERA. Perez coming off four good starts where he has allowed two runs or fewer in each start. Not sure why the Angels moved to a small favorite in this game considering how they are playing and with a poor starter on the hill. I'll take the Sox today. Play Boston. |

|||||||
05-14-21 | Angels v. Red Sox -120 | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 40 m | Show
The LA Angels have struggled this year to a 16-20 and AL West last place slot. The Angels have lost two straight games and seven of their last 10 games. Won't get any easier here today in Boston, where the Red Sox are in 1st place in the AL East with a 23-16 record. They have won six of 10 games. The Angels will start Griffin Canning. Canning is 2-2 after five starts with a 4.95 ERA and 1.437 WHIP. He's been a bit worse on the road where he is 1-2 with a 6.00 ERA. The Sox will start Nick Pivetta. Nick is a perfect 5-0 after seven starts with a 3.19 ERA. Surprised this line isn't higher on the Sox who are at home with the much better starter. But that's ok, I'll take them. Play Boston. |

05-13-21 | Indians -119 v. Mariners | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 57 m | Show
The Cleveland Indians are in 2nd place in the AL Central, just one game back of the White Sox. The Indians are 8-2 over their last 10 games and bring a three-game win streak to Seattle tonight. The Mariners have dropped to third place in the AL West after losing four straight and seven of their last 10 games. The Indians will start Zach Plesac tonight. Plesac is 2-3 in his seven starts with a 3.82 ERA and 1.025 WHIP. Plesac has been very good of late, allowing no runs over his last 13 2/3 innings with 13 KO's and just four walks. Logan Gilbert makes his first start of the season for the Mariners. Gilbert, a top pitching prospect of the M's, has been called up by the Mariners for this start. Until I see Gilbert pitch I'll go with the proven starter in this one. Play Cleveland. |
|||||||
05-13-21 | Marlins -123 v. Diamondbacks | 5-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 37 m | Show
The Miami Marlins continue their West coast trip here tonight in Arizona. This will be the final game of this 4-game set with the D'backs. The Marlins are 1-2 in the three games in Arizona and have scored just eight total runs in the three games. The Marlins will start Trevor Rogers tonight. Rogers is 4-2 in his seven starts with a 1.89 ERA and 1.079 WHIP. He's been just as good on the road with a 2.05 ERA and 1.091 WHIP in his four away starts. Merrill Kelly will toe the rubber for the D'backs tonight. Rogers is 2-3 in his seven starts with a 5.40 ERA. He's been very good at home with a 1-0 record in his two starts with a 2.31 ERA and 1.285 ERA. I like the Marlins starter a lot here tonight. Play Miami. |
|||||||
05-13-21 | Twins v. White Sox -130 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 23 m | Show |
The Chicago White Sox are in 1st place in the AL Central, one game ahead of the Cleveland Indians. The Sox have won five straight games and seven of their last 10. The Sox have baseballs best run differential at +64 thanks to a big hitting ball club. Especially against lefties where they are 8-1 this year. The Sox have also won five straight games. Now they face a Twins team that is struggling , losing three in a row and seven of their last 10 games. They were pummeled on Wednesday by the Sox, 8-13. Michael Pineda has pitched well for the Twins, going 2-1 after six starts with a 2.43 ERA. However, Carlos Rondon has been amazing this year with a 5-0 record after five starts with a 0.58 ERA and 0.677 WHIP. He has not allowed more than one run in any of his five starts. I'm coming right back with the White Sox here on Thursday. Play Chicago. (Note: pitching change as Lynn now going for White Sox. This play still stays same for Jim) |
|||||||
05-12-21 | Twins v. White Sox -135 | Top | 8-13 | Win | 100 | 18 h 56 m | Show |
The White Sox should be happy to see Minnesota Pitcher J.A. Happ here today. Why? Happ is a lefty. The White Sox have killed lefty pitchers this year at a MLB best 7-1 on the year. In fact, this even goes back to last season. Conversely, they have been held scoreless in 14 consecutive innings by right handed pitchers. The plain fact is that the Sox beat up on lefties. Happ has been very good this year with a 2-0 record in his five starts with a 1.91 ERA and 0.847 WHIP. Dallas Keuchel is 1-1 for the Sox with a 3.55 ERA in his seven starts. Keuchel has also allowed just four total runs over his last 19 innings of work. Tough to go against Happ the way he's pitching, but the Sox record against lefties is too hard to pass on here. Play Chicago. |
|||||||
05-11-21 | A's +117 v. Red Sox | 3-2 | Win | 117 | 9 h 23 m | Show
The Oakland A's had Monday off while the Boston Red Sox lost at Baltimore, 1-4. The A's took two of three games from their weekend series with the Rays. Chris Bassitt gets the start here today. He's 2-2 in his seven starts with a 3.70 ERA and 1.210 WHIP. Bassitt has been very consistent, allowing two runs in each of his last five games. The Sox loss on Monday dropped them to 22-14 and snapped their four-game win streak. Nathan Eovaldi will toe the rubber today for the Sox. Eovaldi is 4-2 in his seven starts with a 4.39 ERA and 1.205 WHIP. He's been a bit worse at Fenway, posting a 5.14 ERA and 1.286 WHIP. I'll take the live dog in this one Tuesday. Play Oakland. |
|||||||
05-09-21 | Phillies v. Braves +108 | 1-6 | Win | 108 | 8 h 12 m | Show
Sunday Night TV Game on ESPN has Philadelphia Phillies taking on the Atlanta Braves. The Phillies are in 2nd place in the NL East at 18-16 while the Braves are just behind them at 16-17. The Braves took Saturday's game from the Phillies, 8-7 after losing Friday's contest, 2-12. The Braves have won four of their last five games. The Phillies will start Aaron Nola today. Nola is 3-1 in his seven starts with a 2.89 ERA. He hasn't been as good on the road with a 1-1 record and 5.00 ERA. The Braves will start Huascar Ynoa. Ynoa is having a fine season thus far for the Braves with a 3-1 record in his six starts and a 2.43 ERA. He's been even better at home with a 2-0 mark and 1.56 ERA and 0.750 WHIP. Like Ynoa a lot here at home today. Play Braves. |
|||||||
05-09-21 | Brewers v. Marlins -133 | 2-1 | Loss | -133 | 12 h 17 m | Show
Miami saw it's four game win streak snapped on Saturday by the Milwaukee Brewers, 2-6. The loss dropped the Marlins to 15-17 on the season. Meanwhile, Milwaukee improved to 17-16 with the win, snapping a 6-game losing streak. The Brewers will start Brett Anderson here on Sunday. Anderson is 2-2 after four starts with a 4.15 ERA. Anderson went just 1/3 an inning in his last start against the Cubs, allowing three hits and three runs. The Marlins will counter with Sandy Alcantara. Alcantara is 102 after seven starts with a 2.95 ERA and 1.008 WHIP. He's been slightly better at home with a 2.59 ERA and 0.945 WHIP. I will take the home team here today as the edge in this game goes to Alcantara. Play Miami. |
|||||||
05-08-21 | Padres v. Giants +119 | 1-7 | Win | 119 | 5 h 32 m | Show
The San Diego Padres dropped their first game of this series with the Giants on Friday, 4-5. The loss also dropped them back to 1.5 games back in the NL West behind division leading San Francisco. The Padres will start Joe Musgrove here today. Musgrove is 2-3 in his six starts with a 2.65 ERA and 0.735 WHIP. The Giants have surprised everyone this year with their early season success. Today they look to keep that going with Kevin Gausman on the hill. Gausman is 2-0 in his six stars with a 2.04 ERA and 0.882 WHIP. Despite their success and win last night, the Giants find themselves another dog here today. I hit on them last night as a dog and I'm looking to do that again here tonight. Play San Francisco. |
|||||||
05-07-21 | Padres v. Giants +133 | 4-5 | Win | 133 | 11 h 32 m | Show
Who would have thought that after a month of action the San Francisco Giants would be in first place in the NL West. Well, they are, but that could change tonight as they host the 2nd place San Diego Padres. The Padres are just a half game back in the West. Both teams have excellent starters and bullpens. The Padres will start Blake Snell tonight. Snell is 1-0 in his six starts with a 3.51 ERA. Snell coming off a win over these Giants last time out, 6-2. The Giants will counter with Anthony Deslafani. Deslafani is 2-1 in his six starts with a nifty 2.00 ERA and 0.944 WHIP. Deslafani has allowed more than one run just two times and both of those were three run outings. Giants a home dog tonight with arguably a better starter on the hill. I'll take that live dog. Play San Francisco. |
|||||||
05-07-21 | White Sox -145 v. Royals | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 9 h 57 m | Show
A pair of 16-win teams looking to snap losing streaks here tonight as the White Sox take on the Royals from Kansas City. The Whites Sox lost their last game at Cincinnati, 0-1. The loss dropped them to 16-13 and a half game back of the Indians for the AL Central lead. The Royals are just a half game back of the White Sox in the Central with a 16-14 record, but have lost five straight games and seven of their last 10. The Sox start a red-hot Carlos Rondon tonight. Rondon is 4-0 in his four starts with a 0.72 ERA and 0.640 WHIP. Rondon has allowed just two runs over his 25 innings this year with 36 KO's and just nine walks. The Royals Brad Keller will toe the rubber with a 2-3 record in his six starts. Keller has allowed 14 runs over his last 12 innings of work. Huge difference in starters here tonight. I'll take the White Sox and a red-hot Rondon. Play Chicago. |
|||||||
05-07-21 | Brewers v. Marlins -132 | 1-6 | Win | 100 | 18 h 7 m | Show
Milwaukee and Miami begin their set here on Friday. The Brewers lost on Thursday at Philadelphia, 0-2, while the Marlins beat the Diamondbacks, 3-1. The Brewers have dropped to 2nd place in the NL Central, one game back of the Cardinals. Miami looks to get one game closer to the .500 mark here today as they sit at 14-16 and 4th in the NL East. The Brewers start Brent Suter for the first time this year. This is a bullpen start for manager Craig Counsell who says Friday is about the bullpen. So, don't expect Suter to be around long in this game, maybe three innings maximum. Suter has been very good out of the pen with a 2.70 ERA with 15 KO's in his 16.2 innings. The Marlins will counter with Trevor Rogers. Rogers is 3-2 in his six starts with a nifty 1.91 ERA and 1.061 WHIP. Rogers has held three of his opponents this year to no runs with two other getting two runs and the last three runs. Rogers has been very good for the fish and with the Brewers going to the pen out of the gate, I'm taking the host in this one. Play Miami. |
|||||||
05-05-21 | Brewers -131 v. Phillies | 4-5 | Loss | -131 | 8 h 22 m | Show
Milwaukee Brewers look to snap a 3-game losing streak as they head to Philly to take on the Phillies today. The Brewers are still 17-13 on the season. Freddy Peralta gets the start for the Brewers. Peralta is 3-0 in his five starts with a nice 2.42 ERA and 0.885 WHIP. Philly has a 2-game win streak that they bring into tonight's game. The Phillies have climbed their way back to .500 at 15-15 on the season. Chase Anderson gets the start today. Anderson is 1-3 in his five starts with a 5.40 ERA. Big difference between starters here as I give a big edge to Peralta. Play Milwaukee. |

Luke Weaver gets the start for the D'backs. Weaver is 1-2 after five starts with a 4.91 ERA. He hasn't done very well after three road starts, posting a 6.75 ERA. The Marlins have received excellent pitching this year, evidenced by their 3.8 runs per game allowed. One of those fine pitchers starts tonight in Pablo Lopez. Lopez is 0-2 in his six starts but has a nice 2.34 ERA. At home he's been even better with a 1.02 ERA in three starts. I like Lopez at home here today. Play Miami. |
|||||||

The Baltimore Orioles have split their first two games with the Seattle Mariners. The O's won the opener 5-3 and then lost last night 2.5. The loss dropped them to 14-16 on the season. Seattle improved to 17-14 on the season with their win last night. Yusei Kikuchi toes the rubber today for the M's. Kikuchi has a 1-1 record after five starts with a 4.40 ERA. He has a 5.54 ERA at home after a pair of starts. I like the way Means is pitching for the O's and that has me on them here early on Wednesday. Play Baltimore. |
|||||||
05-04-21 | Blue Jays v. A's -119 | 1-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 25 m | Show

Hoffman is 2-1 after five starts with a 3.33 ERA. He's been even better at home, going 2-0 in his three starts with a 1.69 ERA. Getting the big hitting Reds as a small home dog here tonight is too much to pass on. Play Cincinnati. |

They score well at 5.8 rpg, but they also give up a lot in 5.1 runs per game. The Cardinals have gotten back to the .500 mark at 10-10 after two straight wins over the Reds. The Reds will start Luis Castillo today. Castillo is 1-1 after four starts with a lofty 6.05 ERA. The Cardinals will turn to 3-0 Jack Flaherty. Flaherty has just a 3.80 ERA over his 21 1/3 innings. The Yankees are out to a paltry 6-11 mark and the offense has been less than stellar as they average just 3.5 runs per game. The Yankees haven't scored more than three runs in any of their last five games and seven of their last eight. Domingo German starts for the Yankees today. He's 0-2 after two starts with a 9.00 ERA and 2.000 WHIP. The Indians dropped back to .500 after a loss last time out. Aaron Civale starts for the Tribe. He allowed one run in his opening start and since then no runs over his last 12 innings with just three hits, 19 KO's and no walks. The Padres of have slipped of late after losing two of three to the Dodgers and then opening with a loss in this series. They have dropped to 10-8, but also have a excellent pitching staff which allows just 3.3 runs per game. Chris Paddock starts tonight for the Pads with a 1-1 record after three starts and a 4.15 ERA. 04-17-21 | Braves -114 v. Cubs | 4-13 | Loss | -114 | 2 h 30 m | Show
The Chicago Cubs have not had this bad a hitting team in over a century, as the club just can't seem to do much right. Despite that, they somehow have five wins to go with their eight loss. They have lost two straight games scoring just two total runs and allowing 12 runs. The Cubs have scored more than three runs just one time (4 runs) since April 5th. The Braves have won two straight games, improving to 8-6 on the season. They will start Huascar Ynoa today. Ynoa has two very good starts under his belt, allowing just one total run over 11 innings with 15 KO's and just two walks. Can't say the same for Cubs' starter Trevor Williams. Williams is 1-1 but has allowed seven runs over 9 1/3 innings (6.75 ETA) and has a 1.715 WHIP. Can't play the Cubs the way they are hitting and with today's starter. Take Atlanta. |

04-16-21 | Indians v. Reds -115 | 3-10 | Win | 100 | 7 h 39 m | Show
Interleague Rivalry game here as the Reds host the Indians in a battle for Ohio. Both teams with identical 7-5 records, though the Indians come into this game off a win over the White Sox while the Reds dropped two straight to the Giants. Logan Allen starts for the Tribe with a 2.70 ERA after two starts and a 1-1 record. He has just eight KO's over 10 innings with five walks. The Reds start Jeff Hoffman who is 1-1 after two starts with a 3.86 ERA. Looks like a nice rivalry here tonight, but I give the edge to the Reds. Play Cincinnati. |

04-13-21 | Red Sox +127 v. Twins | 4-2 | Win | 127 | 1 h 12 m | Show
Red Sox started the season 0-3, but since have been on a six-game winning streak as they now sit at 6-3 on the season. The Twins have lost two straight games to drop to 5-4 on the season. Both teams scoring in bunches with the Sox averaging 6.4 runs per game and the Twins averaging 6.1 rpg. Martin Perez starts today for the Sox. He has no record after one start. Perez went five innings in his first start against the Rays, allowing three runs over five innings. J.A. Happ will start for the Twins. Happ went four innings in his one start vs Detroit, allowing just one run and three hits. Getting the Sox as a nice little dog here. I'll take the dog price with a red-hot Red Sox team. Play Boston. |

04-11-21 | Red Sox -136 v. Orioles | 14-9 | Win | 100 | 3 h 38 m | Show
The Boston Red Sox look to extend their winning streak to five games here on Sunday after taking their game from the Orioles on Saturday, 6-4. The win improved the Sox to 5-3 on the season. Nick Pivetta will make his second start for the Sox. He went a solid five innings in his first start and allowing just two hits and not runs for the win over the Rays. The Orioles dropped to 4-4 after losing their last two games. They will start Jorge Lopez for the second time today. Lopez went 4 2/3 innings in his first start, allowing three hits and four runs in the loss to the Yankees. I'm going to stick with the hot Red Sox here today. Play Boston. |

04-10-21 | Angels v. Blue Jays -110 | 1-15 | Win | 100 | 10 h 19 m | Show
The LA Angels bring a two-game win streak into tonight's game against the Blue Jays. The Angels are now 6-2 on the season and averaging 5.9 rpg this season. The Toronto Blue Jays will try to snap a 4-game losing streak after starting the season 3-1 they are now 3-5. The Angels will start Jose Quintana. Quintana makes his second start after going 3 1/3 innings in his first and allowing five hits and four runs against the Astros. Steven Matz also makes his second start for the Jays. Matz had a nice start in game one, going 6 1/3 innings and allowing just two hits and one run to the Rangers. I'll take Matz and the Jays here to snap their losing streak. |

04-10-21 | Yankees v. Rays +124 | 0-4 | Win | 124 | 2 h 44 m | Show
Both the Yankees and the Rays off to sub-par starts this season as both teams are 3-4 through their first seven games. The Yankees have lost two straight games heading into today. The Yankees will send Domingo German to the hill for the second time this year. German hopes to do better than his first start that went just 3-innings with four hits and three runs in a loss to the Jays. Tampa Bay will send Chris Archer to the hill for the first time this year. Close matchup here, but I'll take the Rays with Archer. |

04-08-21 | Brewers -133 v. Cardinals | 1-3 | Loss | -133 | 4 h 43 m | Show
Milwaukee Brewers are 3-3 to start the season and have won their last two games. They face the St Louis Cardinals who are 4-2 and have won three games in a row. The Brewers will start Corbin Burnes today. Burnes is 0-1 after his first start. He had an excellent game, going 6 1/3 innings against the Twins, allowing just one hit and one run to go with 11 Strike outs. St Louis starts Adam Wainwright. Unlike Burnes, Wainwright did not have a good first start. He went just 2 2/3 innings against the Reds, allowing 7 hits and six runs. Burnes pitched in bad luck in his first start and I'm going to back him here today against the Cards. Play Milwaukee. |
