  1. Florida- The Gators are number one until proven otherwise here. The offense isn’t as prolific this year, but the defense is even better than last year. Tim Tebow is still a great leader to have and this offense is still dangerous with Urban Meyer as their coach.
  2. Texas- The Longhorns seem to have gotten their act together of late. The defense is amazing against the run, allowing a measly 50.6 yards per game on the ground. Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley form the best quarterback and wide receiver combo in the country.
  3. Alabama- The Crimson Tide are a very consistent football team, especially on the defensive side of the football. The defense consistently holds other teams to around 10-14 points and the offense has a star in Mark Ingram carrying the football.
  4. TCU- The Horned Frogs deserve the 4th spot in this list. They pounded Utah last weekend and have some very impressive victories this year. That win at Clemson looks more impressive as the weeks go by. The defense is great and the offense is underrated.
  5. Cincinnati- The Bearcats have looked a little less sharp the last couple weeks, especially on the defensive side of the football. They’ll need to sharpen things back up or they might not run the table since they have a tough season finale at Pitt.
  6. Boise State- The Broncos continue to beat up on the WAC conference teams, but it doesn’t look like it will be enough to get them into the title game because of the weakness of their schedule. The win over Oregon does look better every week though.
  7. Georgia Tech- The option offense that Georgia Tech runs is a thing of absolute beauty. They can’t throw the ball well, but they simply don’t need to. The defense needs to improve some if they are going to beat the top ranked teams.
  8. Oregon- The Ducks have a terrific offense that has confused every defense they have faced in the last few weeks. The defense is also much improved and is a very underrated unit. This is a much different team than we saw the first game of the year. The NCAA Football Odds for this weekend show the Ducks as a 6 point road favorite in a huge game against Arizona this Saturday night.
  9. Pittsburgh- The Panthers held on to beat Notre Dame last weekend and they continue their shocking success this season. Two games remain, their rivalry with West Virginia and then a big battle with Cincinnati. These next two will show if Pitt is a real contender or not.
  10. Ohio State- The Buckeyes win over Iowa certainly wasn’t pretty, but the defense of Ohio State is absolutely tremendous. Terrelle Pryor is starting to take better care of the football, which is definitely a good sign for Buckeyes fans. Michigan weekend looms, and that game is never easy.
  11. LSU- Last weekend’s win over Louisiana Tech was very ugly, but it was without Jefferson at quarterback. LSU is a very competitive team because of their defense, but the offense still needs to step up.
  12. Stanford- The experts who make all the college football picks may have seen an upset coming, but they could have never guessed that Stanford would throttle USC the way they did last weekend. This Cardinal team is absolutely for real, and I certainly wouldn’t want to play them right now.
  13. Iowa- The Hawkeyes played a very good game with their backup quarterback in at Ohio State. They fell just short, but they proved they are worthy of a top 15 ranking. The defense is very good and the offensive line proved how good they are last weekend.
  14. Oklahoma State- The Cowboys are a tough team to get a handle on because they are quite inconsistent. The defense and its improvement have helped them stay this high in the rankings.
  15. Oregon State- The Beavers should crush Washington State this weekend, but a battle with Oregon looms in the final game of the season. That should be a great game.
  16. Miami
  17. Clemson
  18. BYU
  19. Utah
  20. Wisconsin
  21. Penn State
  22. Arizona
  23. Virginia Tech
  24. USC
  25. Ole Miss
