The Pirates will start Chris archer (3-7, 5.40 ERA) who has been a major disappointment for the Bucs is winless in his last eight starts while New York starts veteran Jason Vargas (5-5, 3.96) who allowed just one hit at San Diego on Tuesday and is 2-2 with a 2.68 ERA against the Pirates holding opponents to a .201 average in his last seven starts. Arizona at Miami 6:10 ET Marlins over Diamondbacks- A pair of stellar rookies face-off as the Marlins send Jordan Yamamoto (4-1, 2.61 ERA) against Arizona's Alex Young (3-0, 2.38). Yamamoto is 2-0 at Marlins Park with a 2.25 ERA in 16 innings and had won his first four decisions before the Dodgers beat him last time out. |||||||
07-26-19 | Giants v. Padres -139 | Top | 2-1 | Loss | -139 | 11 h 60 m | Show |
San Francisco at San Diego 10:10 ET Padres over Giants- This one seems a bit difficult to chew as it is difficult to accept the Giants as an underdog with the way that they have been playing and the fact that San Diego has lost six straight home games. The Padres will start Joey Lucchesi (7-5, 4.27 ERA) who is coming off of his worst outing getting shelled by these Giants for seven runs. San Francisco starts veteran Jeff Samardzija (7-8, 4.08) who has never really panned out in the 'Bigs' as his record indicates. The Giants have won 19 of their last 27 and the Padres have lost nine of their last 13 and the fact that San Diego is favored by this much tells 'us' they are the side. Take the PADRES! |

New York Yankees at Minnesota 8:10 ET Yankees over Twins- The Yankees finally broke out and instructed Minnesota on real power hitting exploding for 14 runs and preventing a three game losing streak. Tonight, they send the disappointing (according to the NY press) AJ Happ (8-5, 4.86 ERA) to the hill who broke a three-game losing streak last time out defeating the Rockies last Friday. Minnesota, starts Jake Odorizzi (11-4, 3.18) who is 7-8 with a 4.06 ERA against the Yankees but will meet a squad that believes every game is important. Take NEW YORK! |
07-23-19 | Cubs -111 v. Giants | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -111 | 10 h 4 m | Show |
Chicago Cubs at San Francisco 9:45 ET Cubs over Giants- Somehow the Giants just keep winning and have taken nine of their last 10 encounters from their opponents. The idea during the All-Star break was to trade ace Madison Bumgarner (5-7, 3.65 ERA) for a slue of players from the Yankees, but New York will not give up any of their young talent that already has them in first place. So, he remains a Giant as they make their second half push. Chicago will start Yu Darvish (3-4, 4.46) who ended his 13-start winless streak on Wednesday pitching six scoreless innings against the Reds and looking to start a 'new' winning streak. Tonight Darvish get his second streak win. Take the CUBS! |
07-22-19 | Rangers v. Mariners -110 | Top | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 13 h 19 m | Show |
Texas at Seattle 10:10 ET Seahawks over Rangers- So, now its the Rangers turn to take a dive and they have lost their last seven and travel to play the AL's worst team record since the third week of the season and are 3-15 in their last 18 games overall. The numbers may seem grim on both sides of the ledger but the Mariners have their winningest pitcher in Marco Gonzales (10-8, 4.48 ERA) against the Texas teams that is averaging eight runs in seven game against Seattle but it won't matter tonight. Take SEATTLE! |
07-22-19 | Yankees -114 v. Twins | Top | 6-8 | Loss | -114 | 11 h 8 m | Show |
New York Yankees at Minnesota 8:10 ET Yankees over Twins- This always happens with the Yankees, the just seem to get enough done and are consistent enough to stay away from a long losing streak. Tonight they send what many consider their weak link in CC Sabathia's (5-4, 4.06 ET) who has struggled on the road with a 1-3 mark with a 5.84 ERA. Minnesota starts Martin Perez (8-3, 4.10) who like most Twins teams post terrible numbers against the Yankees as he is – with a 9.68 ERA and 1.98 WHIP. Sabathia is 20-9 in 39 career starts against the Twins and New York is 12-2 in CC's last 14 starts against Minny. Take the YANKEES! |
07-21-19 | Mets v. Giants -120 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 4 h 17 m | Show |
New York Mets at San Francisco 4:05 ET Giants over Mets- Man, this one came up a little 'late' otherwise' it could have been the top-play of the day. Oh, do I 'love' this spot...The Mets are mutts and one of the biggest among them is this 'cunny-thummer' Steven Matz (5-6, 4.87 ERA) who has surrendered more hits than innings pitched and has just seven K's in his last 1 innings. Take the GIANTS... |
07-21-19 | Rangers v. Astros -135 | Top | 3-5 | Win | 100 | 5 h 31 m | Show |
Texas at Houston 2:10 ET Astros over Rangers- It is said that after the All-star break the leagues start to separate the 'contenders from the pretenders' and it couldn't be more evident than what we are seeing out of their two Lone Star state rivals. Houston has moved out in front of their division and has won their last four games while the Rangers have lost their last six. Even Texas' ace Lance Lynn (12-5, 3.87 ERA) who is tied for the lead in AL victories has been affected having his personal six-game win streak ended surrendering five runs and eights hits his last time out. Houston will start rookie Rogelio Armenteros who gets his first MLB start and is facing a team that has struck-out 10 times or more in 12 of their last 15 games. Add that the Astros are 48-20 in their last 68 home games. Take HOUSTON! |
07-19-19 | Phillies v. Pirates -103 | Top | 6-1 | Loss | -103 | 8 h 13 m | Show |
Philadelphia at Pittsburgh 7:05 ET Pirates over Phillies- Philadelphia defeated the Dodgers yesterday in what was ban emotional come-from-behind win scoring four runs in the seventh inning with Bryce Harper leading the way. Former Cy Young Award winner Jake Arrieta (8-7, 4.54 ERA) who is 13-6 with a 2.99 ERA against Pittsburgh is well short of his 2015 form struggling on the road where he is 3-5, 4.81 ERA. Pittsburgh will start Jordan Lyles (5-6, 5.16) who is 0-5 with a 10.13 ERA in his last seven starts and is 1-1 with a 3. ERA in 10 appearances against the Phillies. But the 'price' is way short as the Phillies are 4-9 in their last 13 road games and the Pirates although 1-5 since the All-Star break (had won 12 of 17 before) they are 9-2 in their last 11 home games...take PITTSBURGH! |
07-18-19 | Cardinals v. Reds -121 | Top | 7-4 | Loss | -121 | 9 h 49 m | Show |
St. Louis at Cincinnati 7:10 ET Reds over Cardinals- Some of the trends surrounding this selection may not be the most encouraging but there are times you have to see through what is presented. To start with St. Louis will start Dakota Hudson (8-4, 3.48 ERA) who is beginning to have control issues but the Cardinals are 9-1 in his last 10 starts as the Red Birds have shown support for him when needed most including a pair of winning starts against the Reds this season. Cincinnati will start Tanner Roark (5-6, 3.99) who has faced the Cardinals once this season allowing just one run in 5.1 innings. This time...take CINCINNATI! |
07-17-19 | White Sox v. Royals -128 | Top | 5-7 | Win | 100 | 10 h 49 m | Show |
Chicago White Sox at Kansas City 8:10 ET Royals over White Sox- Chicago has had trouble making contact the last two days against the Royals recording double-digits strikeouts in consecutive games. Kansas City who has won four of five has cliched their first home stand series win this season and will start Danny Duffy (3-5, 4.64 ERA) who is in the mist of a nine start winless streak going 0-4 but still comes up the favorite here. Ivan Nova (4-8, 5.60) gets the start for Chicago and he has just one win in his last nine starts. Duffy is 9-6 with a 4.09 ERA in 22 career starts against the White Sox and picks up the win here. Take KANSAS CITY! |

Atlanta at Milwaukee 8:10 ET Brewers over Braves- Atlanta leads the NL East by seven full games and ill be sending Max Fried (9-4, 4.29 ERA) to the hill against Milwaukee who will counter with Adrian Houser (2-3, 4.01) who is making his sixth start of the season. The Braves are 34-16 in their last 50 games and are 21-8 in their last 29 road games while the Brewers who started quickly are now on the outside looking in as far as they playoffs are concerned by going 21-27 but are 28-21 at home. Fried's nine wins are impressive but Atlanta has provided him with 6.6 runs per start the highest in the NL for a starter as he has surrendered 110 hits in 98.2 innings. The Brewers like playing after the weekend going 0-7 on Mondays. I don't know how much that means but they are the side here. Take MILWAUKEE! |

Minnesota at Cleveland 7:10 ET Indians over Twins- The Twins are making their mark in the AL Central this season and are trying to leave the Indians in the dust and will start their winningest hurler in Jake Ordorizzi (10-4, 3.15 ERA) Saturday evening. His mound opponent will be the Indians best in Trevor Bauer (8-6, 3.61) who is a heavy favorite and that has raised some eyebrows. Upon looking closer we see that Ordorizzi has struggled in his last three starts lasting only 12.1 innings allowing 16 hits with an 8.76 ERA. Bauer meanwhile, is 3-0 in his last three starts and has surrendered just 104 hits in 132 innings. The Indians have won 19 of their last 26 and get the victory here. Take CLEVELAND |

His mound opponent will be Dinelson Lamet (0-1, 5.40) who has allowed just three hits in five innings of work. He throws 96-99 MPH and might surprise the Braves. Atlanta is just 7-20 in their last 7 games at Petco Park. Take SAN DIEGO! |

The Cubs will send former 2016 Cy Young Award winner Jon Lester (7-6, 3.89 ERA) against their crosstown rival in this important battle to close the first half on a positive note. The Cubs had lost four straight before their 11-3 win at Pittsburgh and are just 9-15 in their last 24 overall. Detroit who is not thread to get to the playoffs will start their lone bright spot on the hill as Matthew Boyd (5-6, 3.72) who has been hit hard in each of his last three starts. Tonight, Philadelphia will start Nick Pivetta (4-2, 5.62) who has provided mixed results since being sent down to Triple-A and then brought back up to the 'Bigs' and is 0-1 with a 7.13 ERA in his last three starts. The turn abut happened in June when the Braves went 20-6 while Philadelphia had their June swoon and was 11-16. Atlanta has gotten serious about the season adding Dallas Keuchel (1-1, 5.60 ERA) who is 1-0 with a 0.73 ERA in two starts. The Phils will start ace Arron Nola (6-2, 4.22) and with Bryce Harper swinging a hot bat again they will burn the Braves in Atlanta. Take PHILADELPHIA! |

Atlanta at New York Mets 4:10 ET Mets over Braves- The Mets have become the laughing stock of MLB as they are proving to be as inept on the field as they are in the front office. New York has now lost six straight and will be sending Steven Matz (5-6, 4.85 ERA) to the hill and he has been rocked in each of his last two starts giving up seven runs and 10 hits last time out. Atlanta will start Julio Teheran (5-6, 3.94) who also was blasted last time out surrendering seven runs and nine hits. Take METS! |
06-28-19 | Braves v. Mets -135 | Top | 6-2 | Loss | -135 | 6 h 26 m | Show |
Atlanta at New York Mets 7:10 Mets over Braves- The MLB 'joke' of the year without question is the New York Mets. They are as dysfunctional as a big league team can get with management pulling unorthodox stunts to players beating up in-laws and players not getting on the field to play because of personal issues. The Mets have lost five straight as their 'bullpen' blew two-runs leads in four straight games and own the 3rd worst record in the NL only Miami and San Francisco have less wins. Tonight, defending Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom (4-6, 3.25 ERA) gets the nod against rookie Mike Soroka (8-1, 2.07) who is unbeaten since April 18. Mets starter deGrom has allowed two runs or fewer in seventh straight game and helps the Mets break their losing streak. Take NEW YORK METS! |
06-26-19 | Rays -103 v. Twins | Top | 4-6 | Loss | -103 | 9 h 38 m | Show |
Tampa Bay at Minnesota 8:15 Rays over Twins- Two of the AL's top hurlers this season square off in Minnesota where the surprising first-place Twins host the upstart Rays. Tampa Bay will start veteran Charlie Morton (8-1, 2.31 ERA) who leads the AL in ERA and is 2-0 lifetime against the Twins while Minnesota will start Jake Ordoizzo (8-3, 2.31) who had won 10-straight prior to his last start last Thursday and is 1-0 lifetime with a 4.38 ERA against his former club. The streak is over and the karma's gone. Take TAMPA BAY! |
06-25-19 | Rays -105 v. Twins | Top | 4-9 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 40 m | Show |
Tampa Bay at Minnesota 8:10 ET Rays over Twins- Minnesota has dropped five of their last eight but still lead the AL Central by a comfortable margin and return home after a four-game split in Kansas City where the leagues' top scoring team was held to one-run twice. Tampa Bay who trail the Yankees after swept three games in New York by the Yankees leads the AL with a team ERA of 3.20. The Rays are 4-9 in their last 13 contests and will send Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell (4-6, 4.40 ERA) to the mound and he looks to rebound from his worst career start ever surrendering six rubs while getting just one out. Kyle Gibson (7-4, 4.18) who is starting for the Twins is 3-5 with a 5.22 ERA lifetime against the Rays. Take TAMPA BAY! |
06-23-19 | Mets -105 v. Cubs | Top | 3-5 | Loss | -105 | 4 h 21 m | Show |
New York Mets at Chicago Cubs 2:00 ET Mets over Cubs- The Mets won their second straight pounding the Cubs 10-3 Saturday (Money Game winner) while Chicago dropped their 2nd straight. Cy Young Award holder Jacob deGrom (4-6, 3.26 ERA) ended a six-game winless streak but has had eight quality start in his last 10 outings. Cole Hamels (6-2, 2.85) has been outstanding in his last four starts allowing just two runs on just 17 hits in 29 innings. I have issue with deGrom opening the favorite in Chicago as he has never won a game in Wrigley Field but Hamels is 9-14 lifetime against the Mets. Take NEW YORK! |
06-22-19 | Braves v. Nationals -114 | Top | 13-9 | Loss | -114 | 8 h 25 m | Show |
Atlanta at Washington 7:15 ET Nationals over Braves- In a surprise the Nationals are just a game under the break-even mark (37-38) and have won five straight and will host first place Atlanta who have won 11 of their last 14. The Braves will start last year's hard throwing sensation Mike Foltynewicz (2-5, 5.53 ERA) who was 3-2 with a 2.35 ERA in five starts last season. Washington will start Anibal Sanchez (3-6, 3.84) who is 3-0 with a 1.54 ERA since returning from the IL. Last year Sanchez was 7-6 with a 2.83 ERA in 19 starts with the Braves. This time around he beats them. Take WASHINGTON! |
06-21-19 | Angels -105 v. Cardinals | Top | 1-5 | Loss | -105 | 10 h 46 m | Show |
L.A. Angels at St. Louis 8:15 ET Angels over Cardinals- Okay, it seems that the media insists on making Albert Pujols the story-line of his return to St. Louis since leaving after the 2010 season. Geez, guys, the storyline about a used-up PED user that got away scot free. The Cardinals through the years have been known for their solid play and basic fundamentals and this club seems to be a little different. Errors and misplays seen to be a part of their everyday experience. Michael Wacha (4-3. 6.00 ERA) is coming off of another poor performance and has allowed six runs in three of his last five starts. The Angels will start rookie Griffin Channing (2-3, 3.93) who is making his first appearance against the National League and he gets the win here. Take LA ANGELS! |
06-21-19 | Braves v. Nationals -139 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 32 m | Show |
Atlanta at Washington 7:05 ET Nationals over Braves- Today's the day that Dallas Keuchel who signed a two-year $21.2 million dollar contract finally makes his 2019 debut for his new club the Atlanta Braves. In three career starts against the Nationals Keuchel is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA while Washington will start Steven Strasburg (7-4, 3.73 ERA) and he is 12-11 lifetime against the Braves. I just don't see Keuchel being very effective as the Nationals have won eight of their last 11. Take WASHINGTON! |
06-20-19 | Rays +103 v. A's | Top | 4-5 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 51 m | Show |
Tampa Bay at Oakland 10:07 ET Rays over A's- Tampa Bay has the best road record in MLB despite getting rocked three straight at Yankee Stadium getting out-scored 21-4 and have lost seven of their last nine games and are still 23-13 away from home. Traveling west may be the change of scenery needed to break out of their mini slump and the Rays will start veteran Charlie Morton (8-1, 2.37 ERA) who blanked the A's over seven innings allowing just two hits on June 10. Oakland will start ace Frankie Montas (9-2, 2.85) and he is 5-0 in his last eight starts and has allowed three runs or less in 13 of 14 starts. Yet, I look for the Rays to sting here. Take TAMPA BAY! |
06-19-19 | White Sox v. Cubs -145 | Top | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 9 h 40 m | Show |
Chicago WS at Chicago Cubs 8:05 ET Cubs over White Sox- Can this be right? The best pitcher in baseball this season Lucas Giolito (10-1, 2.22 ERA) is a heavy underdog against the struggling veteran Jon Lester (5-5, 4.08). Giolito has an ERA of 0.94 ERA during his current nine-game winning streak but is 1-1, with a 5.48 ERA in two starts against the Cubs and and ERA of 6.13 in 32 starts last season. Lester is 9-6 with a 4.13 ERA lifetime against the White Sox. The high 'price' drives me to the 'Baby Bears.' Take CUBS! |
06-18-19 | Mets -118 v. Braves | Top | 10-2 | Win | 100 | 8 h 2 m | Show |
New York Mets at Atlanta 7:20 ET Mets over Braves- This could end up a strong pitchers duel if managers here allow today's starters to go more then four innings. New York's Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom (3-6. 3.38 ERA) will get the nod and he has been a victim of poor support as his mates are scoring just 3.7 runs per start and are 4-10 in his starts. Atlanta will start Julio Teheran (5-4, 2.92) and the Braves are 10-5 in his starts and he is 10-7 with a 2.35 ERA against the Mets but that might not be good enough. deGrom has an incredible 1.86 ERA against the Bravos in 18 career starts. Take M-E-T-S! |

06-17-19 | Astros v. Reds -118 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 8 h 56 m | Show |
Houston at Cincinnati 7:10 ET Reds over Astros- Houston was pounded at home Sunday 12-0 by Toronto and have not had back-to-back losses in four weeks. They will send Wade Miley (6-3, 3.14 ERA) to the mound who is 5-2 with a 2.89 ERA in 10 career appearances at the Great American Ball Park and yet the best in the AL is an underdog here. Cincinnati will start Luis Castillo (6-1, 2.20) who has allowed just one earned run in his each of his last three starts and has surrendered just 51 hits in 82 innings of work this season and is 3-1 with a 1.87 ERA in seven home starts. 06-16-19 | Rangers v. Reds -170 | Top | 3-11 | Win | 100 | 4 h 35 m | Show |
Texas at Cincinnati 1:10 ET Reds over Rangers- The 'price' of this contest raises some eyebrows as the Reds open a prohibited favorite. Now, I can understand Cincinnati having a small home field edge (15-17) and have a struggling starter in Sonny Gray (2-5, 3.65 ERA) but, this is outrageously high. Texas is hot having won 13-of-19 and have won the first two games of this series and will start Ariel Jurado (4-2, 3.02) who has had four straight quality starts. But, Gray is 8-3 with a 2.72 ERA in 14 career appearances against the Rangers. Take CINCINNATI! |
06-14-19 | Yankees -105 v. White Sox | Top | 2-10 | Loss | -105 | 10 h 0 m | Show |
New York Yankees at Chicago White Sox 8:10 ET Yankees over White Sox- The Yankees have dropped their last two and seven of their last 10 and are beginning to show a need for some of the 15 players placed on the IL to return. Chicago has won four of five 10-of-15 and will send their best Lucas Giolito (9-1, 2.28 ERA) to the mound and he hasn't given up a run in his last 22 innings. New York will send CC Sabathia (3-3, 3.96) to the hill and he is 19-7 lifetime against the White Sox in 38 career starts including 10-2 at Comiskey Park. This is why New York is favored. Take the YANKEES! |

06-11-19 | Blue Jays -114 v. Orioles | Top | 2-4 | Loss | -114 | 8 h 19 m | Show |
Toronto at Baltimore 7:05 ET Blue Jays over Orioles- There are some bad teams in MLB that play bad baseball and these tare two of them. Baltimore had the worst record in baseball (115 losses) last season and are in the same position again and are 10-29 since their last series win. Toronto meanwhile has lost four straight failing to score more than two runs in any of those games and have dropped 14 of 17. Yet, the Blue Jays are favored on the road here. They will start Trent Thornton (1-4, 4.73 ERA) who it took nine starts before he notched his first victory and has pitched six innings on thee times in 13 starts. Yet, he is favored. The Orioles will start John Means (5-4, 2.67) has been the O's most effective hurler and is 3-1 at Camden yards and yet bis an underdog. Take TORONTO! |

New York at Cleveland 1:10 ET Indians over Yankees- It appears that Cleveland is getting hot winning 4-of-5 at home while the Yankees are not. The Indians have won their last two while New York has fallen twice-in-a-row and dropped 5-of-6. With New York's Masahiro Tanaka on paternity leave (I didn't even know he was pregnant) Chad Green (1-2, 9.16 ERA) will get the start where his ERA on the road is 12.79. The Tribe will start Shane Bieber (5-2, 3.57) who is 3-0 in his last four starts striking out 38 batters in 26 innings. Take CLEVELAND |
06-08-19 | Cardinals -109 v. Cubs | Top | 4-9 | Loss | -109 | 9 h 37 m | Show |
St. Louis at Chicago Cubs 7:15 ET Cardinals over Cubs- The NL's fiercest rivalry continues in Chicago where the Cubs will host the gated Cardinals. Last week these two played a 3-game set in St . Louis as the Cards swept all three games and yesterday the Cubs took game one of this 3-game set in Wrigley Field and now the home team has won seven meetings this year. The Red-Birds will start Jack Flaherty (4-3, 3.76 ERA) started slowly but has allowed just two runs in his last two outings striking out 15 while walking nine including five shutout innings against the Cubs. Chicago will start veteran Jon Lester (4-4, 3.32) who is 7-5 lifetime with a 2.85 ERA against the Cardinals. Although St. Louis is 2-7 in Flaherty road starts and 6-20 in their last 26 at Chicago and yet they are favored here. Lester other than his last start has been rather inconsistent and falls short here. Take ST. LOUIS! |

Arizona at Toronto 7:05 ET Blue Jays over Diamondbacks- This pair of MLB also-rans in their respective leagues meet in Toronto after playing a 3-game sets with mirror image results of each other. Arizona posted a win in a 3-game set final game against first place LA Dodgers after losing the first two while the Blue Jays dropped the final in a 3-game set against the first place Yankees after winning the first two. The D'backs who have lost seven of their last 10 will start Merrill Kelly (5-6, 4.41 ERA) who is 2-4 with a 7.14 ERA in six career road starts. Toronto will start veteran Marcus Stroman (3-7, 2.84) who is among the leaders in ERA has had little run support (3.4) in his 13 starts. This time they score against a very hittable pitcher. Take TORONTO! |
06-06-19 | Twins v. Indians -110 | Top | 5-4 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 26 m | Show |
Minnesota at Cleveland 7:10 ET Indians over Twins- The home run happy Twins have yet to lose three straight contests or have been swept in a series this season. They have dropped the first of this 3-game set in Cleveland as it is the Indians that have provided the power surge. The Tribe have gone deep seven times against the Twins in the past two days and will send Trevor Bauer (4-5, 3.76 ERA) to the hill to face Minnesota ace Jose Barrios (7-2, 3.27) is 4-2 with a 4.00 ERA in eight career starts against the Indians while Bauer who is 0-4 in his last six starts is 6-7 with a 4.27 ERA lifetime against Minnesota including a start this season where he allowed just one hit with nine strikeouts. Despite his failure to win of late Bauer has allowed just 61 hits in 84 innings. Take CLEVELAND! |

Boston at New York Yankees 7:05 ET Red Sox over Yankees- The greatest of all MLB rivalry's pits the World Champion Red Sox against baseball's winningest franchise at Yankee Stadium. Boston has dropped four straight and will be sending David Price (2-2, 2.83 ERA) to the mound against New York's veteran lefty CC Sabathia (3-1, 3.48). Price who has allowed just 38 hits in 47.2 innings and is 15-14 with a 4.90 ERA against New York including 2-7 with a 7.71 ERA since joining the Red Sox. He is 1-0 with a 1.53 ERA in his last four starts...take BOSTON! |

06-01-19 | Cubs v. Cardinals -133 | Top | 4-7 | Win | 100 | 9 h 10 m | Show |
Chicago Cubs at St. Louis 7:15 ET Cardinals over Cubs- The Cardinals who posted the worst record in MLB for the month of May (8-18) have won two straight for the first time since April. Chicago hasn't been much better of late losing 4-of-5 and six of their last eight are starting Carlos Quintana (4-4, 3.73 ERA) who has been a bit of a disappointment since coming over from the White Sox who is 5-3 with a 3.75 ERA in nine starts against the Cards. St. Louis will start Jack Flaherty (4-3, 3.77) who started slowing this season but is rounding into form. The Cubs are 3-7 in Quintana's last 10 road starts...take ST. LOUIS! |
05-31-19 | Giants -109 v. Orioles | Top | 6-9 | Loss | -109 | 9 h 17 m | Show |
San Francisco at Baltimore 7:05 ET Giants over Orioles- Today, we are dealing with two of the worst teams in baseball one in each league as last place Baltimore will host last play San Francisco. Now, this one seems a bit odd as the home Orioles are underdogs with their best pitcher Andrew Cashner (5-2, 4.55 ERA) on the mound against the Giants worst Drew Pomeranz (1-5, 6.45). The Giants hurler has lasted just 13 innings in his last four starts allowing 17 runs on 22 hits along with nine walks and yet he is favored here. Baltimore has seven home wins the least in the major and that number won't change today. Take SAN FRANCISCO! |
05-30-19 | Twins v. Rays -139 | Top | 3-14 | Win | 100 | 10 h 44 m | Show |
Minnesota at Tampa Bay 7:10 ET Rays over Twins- Minnesota has turned it around this season with a barrage of homers that lead the majors after struggling with a lack of power all last season. The Twins have won 14 of their last 16 and will be facing a Tampa Bay team that leads the 'bigs' in team ERA with 2.93. They will start Martin Perez (7-1, 2.95 ERA) who has allowed one run or less five times this season. The Rays will counter with Charlie Morton (5-0, 2.54) who is 34-10 since coming over to the American League and get the home edge here tonight. Take TAMPA BAY! |
05-28-19 | Nationals +102 v. Braves | Top | 5-4 | Win | 102 | 9 h 29 m | Show |
Washington at Atlanta 7:20 ET Nationals over Braves- It has been said (in the past) that pitching is 90% of baseball and that should make Washington on of the better teams in the NL as they have two of the best. Tonight, one of those hurlers Stephen Strasburg (4-3, 3.25 ERA) who has allowed just 53 hits in 72 innings gets the start for the struggling Nationals. The problem for the Nats in that they just don't score runs but they are 41-15 in Strasburg's last 56 road starts. Atlanta will start lefty Max Fried (7-2, 2.88) who has won his last three starts and is 7-4 against Atlanta the past four seasons. Take WASHINGTON! |
05-27-19 | Brewers -107 v. Twins | Top | 5-4 | Win | 100 | 10 h 5 m | Show |
Milwaukee at Minnesota 7:10 ET Brewers over Twins- Minnesota winners of six straight and 10 of 11 sweeping their last two series against the Angels and White Sox and have pounded their way to a MLB leading 109 homers. The Brewers salvaged the final of a 3-game set against Philadelphia and will send rejuvenated Gio Gonzalez (2-1, 2.39 ERA) to the hill against the disappointing Michael Pineda (4-3, 5.43) who has surrendered 10 home runs in his last 29 innings. Although, Minnesota is 41-16 in their last 57 overall they are just 5-12 in their last 17 inter-league games and oddly enough Milwaukee is 19-7 on Mondays. Starting week off right with the BREWERS! |
05-27-19 | Diamondbacks v. Rockies -110 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 6 h 8 m | Show |
Arizona at Colorado 3:10 ET Rockies over Diamondbacks- It is getting more and more difficult to 'fade' Zack Greinke (6-2, 2.89) as he seems to get better with each outing. If not for a boneheaded manager yanking Zack Arizona has lost four of his 11 starts twice blowing leads after he's been removed. But, while on the mound he has allowed just 53 hits in 72 innings work with a 0.87 WHIP on the season and even better I his last three starts 0.65 WHIPO and 1.66 ERA. So why is he not favored here? The D'backs just swept three at San Francisco while the Rockies got a 'gift' win handed to them by the Orioles. The Rockies are 6-2 in the last eight meetings and 20-9 in their last 29 home starts against right handers. Somehow...take COLORADO! |
05-26-19 | Braves v. Cardinals -151 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -151 | 9 h 10 m | Show |
Atlanta at St. Louis 7:05 ET Cardinals over Braves- After posting the best record in the league during April St. Louis has had the AL's worst record in May. Today, Atlanta 's starter Julio Teheran (3-4, 3.67 ERA) has done just the opposite of the Cards, as he struggled in April with a 5.35 ERA and in his four May starts he has an ERA of 0.79. Cardinals starter Jack Flaherty (4-3, 4.19) is also a 'Tale of two Months' as he was 3-1 in April and 1-2 in May with a 4.37 ERA but has held opponents to a .188 batting average his last five outings. Take St. LOUIS! |
05-25-19 | Diamondbacks v. Giants -120 | Top | 10-4 | Loss | -120 | 7 h 44 m | Show |
Arizona at San Francisco 4:05 ET Giants over Diamondbacks- It's either feast of famine for the Diamondbacks as they just ended a five-game losing streak with an 18-2 victory over the Giants last night. Arizona will start Taylor Clark (0-1, 2.00 ERA) who has nine innings under his belt as he gets his second career start after being called up from Triple-A Reno. San Francisco will start Andrew Suarez (0-1, 4.50) who made 29 starts last season and surrendered three runs in six innings in his lone start this year. Giants get the best of it here. Take SAN FRANCISCO! |
05-24-19 | Red Sox -135 v. Astros | Top | 3-4 | Loss | -135 | 9 h 6 m | Show |
Boston at Houston 8:10 ET Red Sox over Astros- A match-up of those that I consider the two best clubs in the AL and there should be a buzz in the air as Chris Sale (1-5, 4.31 ERA) takes the hill for Boston. Sale is off of a 10 strikeout performance in five innings which comes on the heels of his 17 strike out outing is seven innings. Houston will start Wade Miley (4-2, 3.51) who is 2-2 with a 6.35 ERA in five starts against the Red Sox while Sale is 5-2 with a 2.12 ERA with a 0.84 WHIP in eight starts. Sox have won their last two while the Astros have dropped their last two and I like the pitching match-up. Take BOSTON! |
05-23-19 | Rays -122 v. Indians | Top | 7-2 | Win | 100 | 7 h 45 m | Show |
Tampa Bay at Cleveland 6:10 ET Rays over Indians- A couple of things surrounding this AL battle as I believe it is 'out with the old and in with the new' as the Rays are becoming a strong threat while the Indians are falling off from pervious levels. Okay, let's see what we have here and it raises an eyebrow. How is it that Tampa Bay is favored on the road and they hadn't even named a starting pitcher and now have listed Ryan Yarbrough (2-1, 8.10 ERA). That maybe not so bad for the Rays as they are 15-7 on the road. Cleveland's Adam Pluto (1-0, 1.50) makes his second career start for the Tribe and is up against to tough club that is 19-7 in their last 26 games on grass. Take TAMPA BAY! |
05-23-19 | Phillies +113 v. Cubs | Top | 9-7 | Win | 113 | 4 h 10 m | Show |
Philadelphia at Chicago Cubs 2:20 ET Phillies over Cubs- This match-up has some of 'us' a bit confused as the first place Cubs are such a meager favorite at home with their ace on the mound. Veteran Jon Lester (3-2, 2.09 ERA) is coming off of his worst performance of the season but has dominated Philadelphia throughout his career and is 8-0 with a 1.49 ERA in 10 starts. When you are that Phillies starter Aaron Nova (4-0, 4.47) who is 1-1 with a 5.12 ERA in three tries against the Cubs. Chicago is 17-7 at home and the Phils are just 10-11 on the road and this 'price' is way too short...Cubs are in trouble today. Take PHILADELPHIA! |
05-22-19 | Reds +100 v. Brewers | Top | 9-11 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 19 m | Show |
Cincinnati at Milwaukee 1:10 ET Reds over Brewers- Yesterday I posted a 'Don't make sense' game and somehow the Padres rallied to defeat Arizona despite the over-whelming trends against 'our' winner. This afternoon there is another 'how can this be game.' Cincinnati is 4-games under .500 and on the road at Milwaukee and the Brewers are 6-games over .500. So, why are the Reds favored here especially when the Brewers starter Zach Davies (5-0, 1.54 ERA) leads MLB starting pitchers in ERA? The answer is Luis Castillo (5-1, 1.90) who's only loss thIs season was a 1-0 defeated the Milwaukee. This tine it's CINCINNATI! |
05-21-19 | Diamondbacks v. Padres -105 | Top | 2-3 | Win | 100 | 12 h 6 m | Show |
Arizona at San Diego 10:10 ET Padres over Diamondbacks- Let me start by saying there is something 'way-wrong' with this 'line' as Arizona sends one of the better pitchers in his time Zack Greinke (6-1, 2.78 ERA) who is 6-0 with a 1.92 ERA in his last nine starts including 2-0 this season against Arizona. Greinke has dominated San Diego and owns a 13-2 record and 2.30 ERA in 24 career starts and yet he is an underdog tonight and that just 'don't make sense.' San Diego's Matt Strahm (1-3, 3.07) gets the nod and he has had one outing against Arizona throwing five scoreless innings in April. The Padres have lost six of their last eight and yet they are the favorite against the D'Backs best. What more can I say other than take SAN DIEGO! |
05-20-19 | Twins v. Angels -119 | Top | 3-1 | Loss | -119 | 10 h 55 m | Show |
Minnesota at L.A. Angels 10:05 ET Angels over Twins- Minnesota's Jake Odorizzi (6-2, 2.63 ERA) has won six straight starts including his last start against the Angels last Wednesday. That is his lone career win over Los Angeles as he is just 1-3 with a 5.87 ERA in six career starts. Los Angeles will start Taylor Cole (0-0, 4.91) and he has just 7.1 innings pitched this season all in relief and he is expected to throw a few quick innings and then Felix Pena (2-1, 3.49) is to take over. This may be a bit 'off' but it will work for the Halos tonight. Take the ANGELS! |
05-19-19 | Twins v. Mariners -101 | Top | 4-7 | Win | 100 | 6 h 26 m | Show |
Minnesota at Seattle 4:10 ET Mariners over Twins- A pair of clubs that are trending in opposite directions as Minnesota has won five straight while Seattle has dropped their last three. The Twins pounded the Mariners 18-4 Saturday and are now 15-7 on the road whereas Seattle is just 9-14 at home. The Mariners who started the year 13-2 are 9-22 since and will start rookie Yusei Kikuchi (2-1, 3.64 ERA) who has never faced Minny but is unbeaten in his last five starts. The Twins will start Kyle Gibson (4-1, 4.26) who has made nine career starts against Seattle and is 4-2 with a 3.38 ERA, but it won't be enough today. Take SEATTLE! |
05-18-19 | Cubs v. Nationals -131 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 9 h 11 m | Show |
Chicago Cubs at Washington 7:05 ET Nationals over Cubs- Chicago is one of the hottest teams in baseball having won 21 of their last 28 game have taken over the NL Central with a 4-game lead in the loss column already. Washington is just a shell of their former selves as they have now lost 15 of their last 22. The Cubs will start Jon Lester ( 3-1, 1.16 ERA) and he has not allowed a run in his last three starts and four of his last five outings but he is just 2-2 lifetime against the Nationals and will be opposed by Steven Strasburg (3-3. 3.63). Strasburg has been just as tough of late allowing just 22 hits in his last 34.1 innings. Look for the Nats to get it done. Take WASHINGTON! |
05-18-19 | Brewers v. Braves -116 | Top | 3-4 | Win | 100 | 9 h 2 m | Show |
Milwaukee at Atlanta 7:20 ET Braves over Brewers- Both hurlers in tonight's contest have had stints on the sidelines as a the Brewers Chase Anderson (2-0, 3.20 ERA) makes his first start in 10 days after a right middle finger laceration while Kevin Gausman (2-3, 4.50) served a five-day suspension for throwing at Marlins hitters. Atlanta won for the sixth time in their last seven games and are off of season highs in runs (12) and hits (17) and are 7-2 in Gausman's last nine starts. Take ATLANTA! |
05-17-19 | Brewers v. Braves -133 | Top | 8-12 | Win | 100 | 10 h 43 m | Show |
Milwaukee at Atlanta 7:20 ET Braves over Brewers- After dropping three straight on the road the Brewers have responded with three wins and are now 4-3 on this road trip. Atlanta meanwhile has won five of six after dropping four straight and will start Max Fried (5-2, 3.25 ERA) who has a strikeout ratio of 41-K's and just nine walks in 44.1 innings. Milwaukee will start Jhoulys Chacin (3-4, 4.57) who is 2-4 with a 3.69 ERA in seven career starts against the Braves. The Braves are 19-9 versus the Brewers in the last 28 meetings in Atlanta and get it done here. Take ATLANTA! |
05-16-19 | Cubs v. Reds -125 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 8 h 37 m | Show |
Chicago at Cincinnati 6:40 ET Reds over Cubs- Yesterday's overtime loss to the Reds was just Chicago's third loss in their last 16 games and leaves them with a four-game lead in the loss column over the Brewers in the NL Central. Today, the Cubs will start Jose Quintana (4-2, 3.50 ERA) who os coming off of a loss last time out but has had five quality starts in his last six outings. Cincinnati's Luis Castillo (4-1, 1.76) has gone seven starts without a defeat while allowing just 32 hits in 56.1 innings with 70 strikeouts. Once again it's CINCINNATI! |
05-15-19 | Cubs v. Reds -126 | Top | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 8 h 20 m | Show |
Chicago at Cincinnati 6:40 ET Reds over Cubs- The matchup here pits a pair of disappointing pitchers that are still trying to find their way early on this season. The free agent signing of Yu Darvish (2-2, 5.40 ERA) by the Cubs looks like a 'bust' right now as his control has been a major problem while Cincinnati's Sonny Gray (0-4, 4.15) has yet to win in eight starts. Gray who was an All-Star for Oakland in 2015 has allowed just 31 hits in 31 innings but has received little offensive support from his teammates. Chicago is hot winning 22 of their last 28 and have dominated the Reds going 42-19 in the last 61 meetings. After learning these stats it is difficult to understand why the Reds are favored. Take CINCINNATI! |
05-14-19 | Padres v. Dodgers -149 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 12 h 25 m | Show |
San Diego at L.A. Dodgers 10:10 ET Dodgers over Padres- In with the 'new' and 'out' with the old. San Diego rookie sensation Chris Paddack (3-1, 1.55 ERA) has been better than his record shows and the Padres are 6-1 in his seven starts. Paddack who has surrendered only 18 hits in 40.2 innings of work with 46 strikeouts is matched against 3-time Cy Young Award winner and future HOF and 2014 NL MLV Clayton Kershaw (2-0, 3.31) who also has a WHIP of 0.98. The improved Padres are still not in the Dodgers class and with their ace on the hill they should get the best of these upstarts from the south. Take LOS ANGELES! |
05-13-19 | Astros v. Tigers +150 | Top | 8-1 | Loss | -100 | 10 h 59 m | Show |
Houston at Detroit 7:10 ET Tigers over Astros- Houston has picked up the pace winning their last five in-a-row but return to the road where they are just 10-11. The Astros as a matter of fact are just 8-13 against lefty starters but have been pounding the ball where ever they play of late. Scoring 15 runs Sunday Houston is now hitting over .300 as a team their last 10 games. Detroit will start Matthew Boyd (4-2, 2.86 ERA) who has allowed just 36 hits in 50 innings with 63 strikeouts and is 2-0 against the Astros but with a 5.71 ERA in three appearances. Tough spot for Houston after scoring 15 runs at home and now taking to the road. Take DETROIT! |
05-12-19 | White Sox +103 v. Blue Jays | Top | 5-1 | Win | 103 | 3 h 46 m | Show |
Chicago White Sox at Toronto 1:07 ET White Sox over Blue Jays- The White Sox broke out of a team slump scoring seven runs in their Saturday win against the struggling Blue Jays who have lost nine of their last 11. Scoring has been even more difficult for Toronto to score as they have plated just five runs in their last 47 innings. Chicago will start Lucas Giolito (3-1, 4.06 ERA) who has allowed just 25 hits in 31 innings with 30 strike outs in his last 24 innings of work. Aaron Sanchez (3-3, 3.21) has been good enough but with little offensive support from his teammates scoring just 3.8 runs in his starts. Take WHITE SOX! |

05-11-19 | Brewers v. Cubs -137 | Top | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 4 h 18 m | Show |
Milwaukee at Chicago Cubs 2:20 ET Cubs over Brewers- These two rivals have alternated wins and losses their last five games and with the Brewers winnings their seventh straight yesterday 7-0. Milwaukee's staff has a 1.50 ERA during this seven game streak and will be throwing Zach Davies (4-0, 1.56 ERA) who held the Cubs without an earned run back on April 7. Chicago will start Cole Hamels (3-0, 3.38) who defeated the Brewers on April 6 is now 8-3 lifetime against them as the Cubs are 9-3 in their last 12 home games and 20-7 in their last 27 overall and 7-1 after a loss. Take CHICAGO! |
05-10-19 | Yankees v. Rays -141 | Top | 4-3 | Loss | -141 | 9 h 10 m | Show |
New York Yankees at Tampa Bay 7:10 ET Rays over Yankees- Two of the winningest pitchers in the AL face-off as the Yankees send Domingo German (6-1, 2.35 ERA) against the Rays' Tyler Glasnow (6-0, 1.47) at Tampa Bay. New York who has had 14 players listed on the IL are scraping along and trail the Rays bye 1.5 games for the lead in the AL East. Both starters have been tough to hit as Glasnow has surrendered just 30 hits in 43 innings with 46 strikeouts and not allowing more then two runs in any of his seven starts. Take TAMPA BAY! |
05-09-19 | Braves -102 v. Diamondbacks | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -102 | 10 h 28 m | Show |
Atlanta at Arizona 9:40 ET Braves over Diamondbacks- Atlanta is coming off getting swept by the Dodgers in three games and it is the third time that they have lost a 3-game swept including one to Arizona in Atlanta three weeks ago. Yet, this game opens with the Braves favored because Mike Soroka (3-1, 1.14 ERA) gets the start for the Braves who is just 21-years old and has surrendered just 16 hits in 23.2 innings. Luke Weaver (3-1, 3.29 ERA) gets the nod for Arizona and is 1-1 with a lifetime ERA of against the Braves. Take ATLANTA! |
05-08-19 | Twins v. Blue Jays +100 | Top | 9-1 | Loss | -100 | 8 h 50 m | Show |
Minnesota at Toronto 7:07 ET Blue Jays over Twins- The Blue Jays bats have gone silent as they have been shut out their past two games and have scored three runs or less in seven of eight games plating just 11 runs in those seven games. Minnesota is playing well and is 9-3 overall in their last 12 contests and are 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. The Twins will start Kyle Gibson (2-1, 4.68 ERA) who is 3-1 with a 5.01 ERA against Toronto and is coming off of a loss to the Yankees. Toronto will start winless Trent Thornton (0-3, 4.08) who has thrown better than his record who indicate. He has allowed just 28 hits in 35.1 innings but has received little offensive support at 3.6 runs per. Blue Jays score and win today. Take TORONTO |
05-07-19 | Giants +114 v. Rockies | Top | 14-4 | Win | 114 | 10 h 6 m | Show |
San Francisco at Colorado 8:40 ET Giants over Rockies- Oh, how I'm hurting for San Francisco as an 'old' New York Giants Baseball Club fan it distresses me to see what they are right now. Their line-up is very weak hitting and powerless and their best player is also at the end of a great career and a couple of World Series rings but, nah. Colorado started the season slowly and have been gradually creeping back but have nothing more than inconsistent. Madison Bumgarner (1-4, 3.92 ERA) has to do it all himself as he has received little support getting merely 2-runs per start as they are just 2-7 in his last nine starts. More bad news for Giants backers is that they are 2-17 at Denver winning one game in each of the past two seasons. But, (there's always a but) Bumgarner has found hid 'spot' shutting down the Dodgers in his last start and is 14-8 with a 3.03 ERA versus Colorado and 5-6, 4.32 ERA at Coors Field. Take the GIANTS! |
05-06-19 | Mariners v. Yankees -143 | Top | 3-7 | Win | 100 | 18 h 5 m | Show |
Seattle at New York Yankees 6:35 ET Yankees over Mariners- Both clubs have 19 wins but they feel different about themselves because of the way they got there. Seattle who started the year 13-2 ended a six-game losing streak with an huge over-the-top victory 10-0 against Cleveland. The Yankees have 14 different player on the IL and continue to win with unknowns and reserves and have won 10 of 14. New York's CC Sabathia (1-1, 2.66 ERA) was on the shelf for awhile but has return in fine fashion, 20 innings only 15 hits but has had only 2.5 runs of support per start. But the Bombers are 13-4 in CC's last 17 starts versus Seattle and New York is 21-7 in the last 28 meetings. The Mariners will start veteran Felix Hernandez (1-2, 4.31) and they have struggled going 4-12 in his last 16 starts. Take NY YANKEES! |
05-05-19 | Diamondbacks v. Rockies -135 | Top | 7-8 | Win | 100 | 5 h 41 m | Show |
Arizona at Colorado 3:10 ET Rockies over Diamondbacks- Upon looking at this match-up I am a little miffed that Arizona who has won four straight with ace Zack Greinke (5-1, 3.27 ERA) on the mound is such a heavy underdog. Consider that the Diamondbacks are 12-5 in their last 17 trips to Coors Field. So, lets look at the Rockies with German Marquez (3-2, 2.93) on the bump and Colorado is 6-2 in his last eight home starts. When 'we' see that Grienke is 5-1 with a 4.18 ERA at Coors makes this even more intriguing. This one smells...take COLORADO! |
05-04-19 | Cardinals v. Cubs -126 | Top | 5-6 | Win | 100 | 6 h 55 m | Show |
St. Louis at Chicago Cubs 4:05 ET Cubs over Cardinals- The Cardinals bats have cooled off their last two games scoring just once and losing twice entering their sixth straight road game. The Cubs have now won five straight and 16 of their last 22 and will send Yu Darvish (2-3, 5.02 ERA) to the mound. Darvish who has been one of the biggest free agent disappointments has found his old form of late going 2-1 while allowing just 11 hits in 16 innings while posting a 3.24 ERA. St. Louis will start Michale Wacha (2-0, 4.78) who has been great but forever struggles against the Cubs and is 4-8 with a 6.65 ERA in 18 career games including a 1-4 and 5.98 ERA at Wrigley Field. Take CHICAGO! |
05-03-19 | Diamondbacks -103 v. Rockies | Top | 10-9 | Win | 100 | 9 h 18 m | Show |
Arizona at Colorado 8:40 ET Diamondbacks over Rockies- One club that few expected very little out of is the Diamondbacks who lost Goldschmidt among other but have come out strong winning 18 of 31. Colorado started slowly out of the box winning just two of their first 14 but have turned it around somewhat winning 12 of their last 17. But, the Rockies have trouble winning games when (Tyler Anderson 0-2, 11.34 ERA) starts going 5-12 un his last 17 home starts. Robbie Ray (1-1, 4.18) who has been pitching in hard luck will start for Arizona and has allowed just 23 hits in 32.1 innings while Anderson has surrendered 17 hits in his last 11 innings with a 12.34 ERA. Take ARIZONA! |
05-02-19 | Blue Jays v. Angels -149 | Top | 2-6 | Win | 100 | 12 h 44 m | Show |
Toronto at L.A. Angels 10:07 ET Angels over Blue Jays- Both of tonight's starting pitchers have had health issues in recent seasons and have missed a plethora of turns while still being effective when able to take the mound. Toronto's Aaron Sanchez (3-1, 2.32 ERA) has had blister and finger nail problems and hasn't been able to throw more than five innings and is 0-1 with a 3.14 ERA in four career starts. The Angels will start Tyler Skaggs (2-2, 3.15) who will be making his second start in two weeks because of a sprained ankle but has been effective. Take LOS ANGELES! |
04-30-19 | Cubs -147 v. Mariners | Top | 6-5 | Win | 100 | 11 h 19 m | Show |
Chicago Cubs at Seattle 10:05 ET Cubs over Mariners- Chicago has been slow getting off the mark this season while the Mariners started 13-2 but have come back to the pack since that fast start. A pair of the best hurlers in the 'Bigs' as future Hall of Fame righty 'King' Felix Hernandez (1-2, 3.91 ERA) who is facing the Cubs for just the third time in his career without a decision. The 'Windy City' boys will start Cole Hamels (3-0, 3.16) who has been difficult to hit allowing just 22 hits in 31.1 innings with a 0.99 WHIP. Chicago is 9-3 in their last 12 games while the Mariners are 2-8 in their last 10 home games and 5-16 in their last 21 inter-league games. Take the CUBS! |
04-28-19 | Brewers v. Mets -122 | Top | 2-5 | Win | 100 | 3 h 12 m | Show |
Milwaukee at New York Mets 1:10 ET Mets over Brewers- The Mets have now dropped three straight and are at 13-13 on the season and have yet to establish any consistency. Milwaukee has been up and down and streaking all season with most of the winning coming at home. The Brewers will start Gio Gonzalez who makes his 2019 debut who closed the 2018 season with Milwaukee going 3-0 with a 2.13 ERA down the stretch. So, it seems strange that no one would play Gonzalez who the Yankees has designated to Triple-A ball. Steve Matz (2-1, 4.03 ERA) get the nod for New York and he is 3-1 with a 3.33 ERA lifetime against the Brewers. Take the METS! |
04-27-19 | Cubs -115 v. Diamondbacks | Top | 9-1 | Win | 100 | 10 h 59 m | Show |
Chicago Cubs at Arizona 8:10 ET Cubs over Diamondbacks- Arizona has been a bit of a surprise to date and have won five-in-a-row and 10 of their last 12 while the Cubs have dropped their last two games but are 7-3 in their last 10 outings. The D'backs will start Zack Godley (1-1, 6.67 ERA) who has alternated good and bad starts and he is 1-2 with a 5.14 ERA in four career starts against Chicago. The Cubs will start struggling veteran Yu Darvish (1-3, 5.96) who has shown to be one of the worst free agent signing since the Yankees got Jacob Ellsbury who is just 2-6 with a 5.31 ERA since joining the club. This time it's CHICAGO! |
04-25-19 | Yankees v. Angels -106 | Top | 5-11 | Win | 100 | 10 h 22 m | Show |
New York Yankees at L.A. Angels 9:07 ET Angels over Yankees- 'Break-up the Yankees'...the cry of the also-rans during the 1950's as they dominated baseball with nine World Series appears in 10 years. Currently, the Yankees are 'all broke up' as they have 13 players on the IL including seven All-stars. But, that isn't keeping New York from winning as they are at a season high six-game winning streak and have won eight of their last nine. Tonight the Yanks will start Masahiro Tanaka (2-1, 2.76 ERA) and he is perfect against the Angels 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA in six career starts. LA will start their ace Trevor Cahill (1-2, 5.47) who has struggled against New York going 1-4 with a 10.09 ERA in seven career appearances against NY. Yet, well, like I said at the top, these Yankees are all 'broke up' and are not the same club. Take LOS ANGELES! |
04-24-19 | Phillies v. Mets +115 | Top | 6-0 | Loss | -100 | 9 h 21 m | Show |
Philadelphia at New York Mets 7:10 Mets over Phillies- This one is a tough one for me on so many levels as I really don't like the starter that I'm going to back and 'like' the pitcher that I'm paying against. My issues start with New York Jason Vargas (1-0, 9.58 ERA) who has been totally ineffective as a Mets after having a career year in Kansas City. I 'saw' Vargas up close and personal in spring training and I believe that I could be a career .300 hitter against the garbage he was tossing up. This season he has already surrendered 17 hits in 10 innings on the season. Philadelphia will start Vince Velasquez (0-0, 2.55) allowing just 13 hits in 18 innings but has had little run support 2.7 per game. But, here it comes there's always a 'but'...Velasquez is 1-4 lifetime against the Mets with a 4.58 ERA in eight starts while Vargas is 2-0 with a 3.86 ERA over the Phillies. Take the NEW YORK METS! |
04-23-19 | Phillies v. Mets -127 | Top | 0-9 | Win | 100 | 9 h 37 m | Show |
Philadelphia at New York Mets 7:10 ET Mets over Phillies- A pair of 'sad Zac's' will pitch for both squads as the Phillies will send Zach Eflin (2-2, 3.68 ERA) to the hill while New York will send Zack Wheeler (1-2, 6.35) to the mound. Despite the difference in ERA it could be argued that Wheeler has thrown better allowing just 21 hits in 22.2 innings while Eflin has surrendered 26 hits in 22 innings and is 2-3 with a 5.25 ERA in seven starts against the Mets. Wheelers has had three straight quality starts and is 4-2 with a 3.67 ERA lifetime against Philadelphia. Take the METS! |
04-22-19 | Phillies v. Mets -110 | Top | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 8 h 51 m | Show |
Philadelphia at New York Mets 7:10 ET Mets over Phillies- Despite Sunday's beating I really have confidence in 'our' strongest play today as the Mets host Philadelphia at Citi Field. Okay here's the deal, Steven Matz (1-1, 4.96 ERA) was having a great spring until he ran into this Philly lineup last Tuesday surrendering eight runs without recording an out (6 earned) allowing all eight batter to reach base. This exact situation presented itself to 'us' last week between the Dodgers and Brewers and it was an easy Megabucks winner, I expect the same here. Philadelphia is just 3-7 in their last 10 in New York. Although, the Mets have dropped six of eight they return to start a 10-game home stand. Look for the Mets and Matz to bounce back here in a BIG way. Take NEW YORK! |
04-21-19 | Diamondbacks +104 v. Cubs | Top | 1-2 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 25 m | Show |
Arizona at Chicago Cubs 2:20 ET Diamondbacks over Cubs- Arizona will start Robbie Ray (0-1, 4.64 ERA) who is winless in four start despite allowing three hits or less in each of his first three outings. The D'backs broke the Cubs four-game winning streak Saturday holding the inconsistent Cubs to four hits three of which were singles. Ray is 1-1 with a 1.88 ERA against Chicago while the 'Baby Bears' will give Tyler Chatwood (0-0, 6.00) who is 5-3 with a 4.37 ERA against Arizona his first start of the season and he is not expected to go deep into this fray. Take the DIAMONDBACKS! |
04-20-19 | Reds -109 v. Padres | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 10 h 58 m | Show |
Cincinnati at San Diego 8:40 ET Reds over Padres- Cincinnati started the season with seven losses in their first seven road games but have managed a pair of wins in San Diego and come up a slight favorite here. The Padres have now dropped five straight and will be sending Eric Lauer (2-2, 4.91 ERA) to the mound and he will be opposed by Luis Castillo (1-1, 1.46) who has 32 strikeouts in 24.2 innings of work this season but is just 0-2 with a 5.17 ERA in three career starts against San Diego. Lauer has given up 21 hits in his last 16 innings of work with an ERA of 6.75 his last three outings. The Padres are just 3-12 on Saturdays and 17-36 in their last 53 home games. Take CINCINNATI! |
04-19-19 | Dodgers -106 v. Brewers | Top | 5-3 | Win | 100 | 9 h 29 m | Show |
LA Dodgers at Milwaukee 8:10 ET Dodgers over Brewers- The battle of the long ball continues as the Dodgers Cody Bellinger and Christian Yelich match their skills with 10 homers each tied with Khris Davis for the MLB lead with 10. Los Angeles who has won five straight will start Ross Stripling (1-1, 2.92 ERA) who posted his win last Sunday to save the final game against Milwaukee in LA allowing just one run in eight innings and he has a 0.69 ERA in two appearances against the Brewers. Jhoulys Chacin (2-2, 6.52) gets the nod for the Brewers and he is 11-10 with a 4.70 ERA in 27 outings against the Dodgers as he was rocked for six runs in 2.2 innings in that Sunday start at LA. Take the DODGERS! |
04-17-19 | Astros v. A's -109 | Top | 1-2 | Win | 100 | 12 h 39 m | Show |
Houston at Oakland 10:05 A's over Astros- 'We' have been riding Houston for the most part during their 10-game winning streak but things look a bit different to me today. To start with they come up an underdog in this contest against Oakland who has lost their last two including a 9-1 loss yesterday to the Astros and have lost five straight to in this series. Tonight, Houston's Wade Miley (1-1, 3.45 ERA) is 5-1 with a 1.40 ERA lifetime against the A's including 5.2 innings of shutout ball in early April is an underdog. Oakland will start Frankie Montas (2-1, 3.18) who is 1-2 with a 5.89 ERA against Houston and yet he is favored here. Take OAKLAND! |
04-16-19 | Indians -111 v. Mariners | Top | 4-2 | Win | 100 | 11 h 26 m | Show |
Cleveland at Seattle 10:10 ET Indians over Mariners- Seattle started the season in Japan and continued their road trip and returned home 13-2, since then they have lost four straight. Tonight, the Mariners will start veteran thief Mike Leake (2-0, 4.15 ERA) who has had plenty of support in his starts with the Mariners averaging 7.3 runs in his three starts. But, Leake has surrendered 21 hits in 17 innings (well above the norm) and has been hit hard. The Indians will start Shane Bieber (1-0, 1.80) who has been virtually un-hittable allowing just seven hits in 15 innings. Bieber is 8-0 with a 3.25 ERA on the road and gets the win here. Take CLEVELAND! |
04-15-19 | Indians -106 v. Mariners | Top | 6-4 | Win | 100 | 11 h 41 m | Show |
Cleveland at Seattle 10:10 ET Indians over Mariners- Seattle was cruising along at 13-2 when they returned home after an extended road trip where they won six straight haven't won since. The Mariners were swept by Houston in their three-game set and now face one of the league's toughest hurlers. It hasn't been that much better for Cleveland as they have dropped three straight themselves at Kansas City. The Indians Trevor Bauer (1-1, 2.29 ERA) will get the start and he has been un-hittable allowing just 11 hits in 20 innings with 24 strikeouts and has a WHIP of 0.97. Seattle will start Yusei Kikuchi (0-0, 4.15) and he left his last outing because of leg cramps. Still it's about Bauer...take CLEVELAND! |
04-12-19 | Mets v. Braves -105 | Top | 6-2 | Loss | -105 | 9 h 25 m | Show |
New York Mets at Atlanta 7:20 ET Braves over Mets- A pair of huge trends go head-to-head as the Mets invade Atlanta to face the red hot Braves. Atlanta has won their last three and will be sending Kyle Wright to the mound and the Braves are 0-6 in his six starts since his arrival in September but they have provided him with just 11 runs of support in six games. The Mets will start another of their 'great' pitching prospects as Zack Wheeler (0-2, 10.24 ERA) takes the hill. Zack had a great spring but faced the Nationals twice and was lucky to come away with just one loss as New York lost both of his starts. Atlanta is much better at home going 11-2 in their last 13 while New York still have problems with the Braves going 5-12 in the last 17 meetings and Braves are 7-1 in last eight overall. I don't care who pitches for the Braves, it won't matter! Take ATLANTA! |
04-12-19 | Angels v. Cubs -147 | Top | 1-5 | Win | 100 | 5 h 32 m | Show |
L.A. Angels at Chicago Cubs 2:20 ET Cubs over Angels- I still contend that one of the best ways to win handicapping baseball is to ride the winning streaks and play 'against' when teams are on losing streaks. Okay, that being said I just want to note that Los Angeles somehow has won six in-a-row the last two without Mike Trout. But, they key factor is that they were all at home. Now, the Angels on the road are bedeviled going 1-5 and are 1-10 in their last 11 road games overall. The Cubs started poorly losing seven of nine on the road and now return home and look to return the favor to a west coast team that is playing 11 AM their time. Chicago has won the last four meetings. Take the CUBS! |
04-11-19 | Pirates v. Cubs -128 | Top | 0-2 | Win | 100 | 9 h 2 m | Show |
Pittsburgh at Chicago Cubs 8:05 ET Cubs over Pirates- The Cubs slow start (3-8) has some in the Windy City grumbling about Joe Madden and his future. Imagine that...the guy that led them to their only World Series win in 111 years. Chicago's offense has been spotty so far and their pitching has been hit hard with Yu Darish and Jon Lester ailing. Pittsburgh will start Joe Musgrove (1-0. 0.00 ERA) who dominated in his lone start against Cincinnati and is 2-1 with a 1.80 ERA against the Cubs with both wins coming last season. Chicago will start Jose Quintana (0-1, 10.29) was blasted in his lone start last Friday against Milwaukee but is 1-1 with a 2.89 ERA in five appearances against the Pirates. Add that the Cubs are 17-6 in Quintana's 23 home starts. Take CHICAGO! |
04-01-19 | Angels -109 v. Mariners | Top | 3-6 | Loss | -109 | 10 h 9 m | Show |
LA Angels at Seattle 10:10 ET Angels over Mariners- It is a shame that Seattle who is now 5-1 after having their way with the A's in Japan and in near sweep of the World Champion Red Sox and now will have all that momentum halted with the dethroned 'King Felix' Hernandez takes the mound. Chris Stratton starts for the Angels and spent the entire spring with the Giants and will be facing Seattle for the first time. Hernandez's slip is slowing as he was 0-8 with a 6.34 ERA in this last 11 starts in 2018. It may get better (how could it not) but not enough. Take LOS ANGELES ANGELS! |
10-26-18 | Red Sox +145 v. Dodgers | Top | 2-3 | Loss | -100 | 29 h 48 m | Show |
Boston at L.A. Dodgers 8:05 ET Red Sox over Dodgers- I am having difficulty digesting the fact that for the first two games of the World Series one manager out-smarted everyone by taking 126 homers out of the line-up because of percentages. This is a team like the Yankees that is power driven (long ball) and are not built for the playoffs where pitching and defense are the most important factors. Listen all, I am a New Yorker and of course would love to see 'any' team from Boston lose...but, from start to finish this season they have been the best and have shown it in the playoffs and World Series , there is no reason to thing they wilL stop, the Dodgers have been exposed and the Red Sox are just the all-around better team . Take BOSTON! |
10-24-18 | Dodgers v. Red Sox -138 | Top | 2-4 | Win | 100 | 7 h 57 m | Show |
L.A. Dodgers at Boston 8:05 ET Red Sox over Dodgers- Okay, we are all aware of David Price's record in post-season action (1-9 as a starter) but, I believe he has turned the corner after his last and most successful outings. This Dodgers are playing for the first time at Fenway Park and will be starting Hyun-Jin Ryu who has come-on later in the season. But, the Red Sox are better balanced and move up 2-0 in the series. Take BOSTON! |
10-23-18 | Dodgers v. Red Sox -143 | Top | 4-8 | Win | 100 | 10 h 55 m | Show |
L.A. Dodgers at Boston 8:09 ET Red Sox over Dodgers- When baseball people would talk about World Series droughts the Red Sox were always at the top of the list along with the Chicago Cubs. Bit, Boston ended that 1919 wayback win by getting a title in 2004 and two others since while the Dodgers haven't cashed in last in 1988 (Kurt Gibson the hero). Clayton Kershaw who is making his first start in Fenway Park seems to have broken his post-season hex with performances in the NLCS against the Brewers but he just doesn't have the same 'stuff' on the mound. Chris Sale starts for Boston, is healthy and ready to go in Game One. Take BOSTON! |
