05-04-22 | Mavs +6.5 v. Suns | 109-129 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 21 m | Show
The Dallas Mavericks lost game one of this best of seven series with the Phoenix Suns, 114-121. Despite trailing by double digits most of the game, the Mavs rallied and just missed cover the 5.5-point dog spread. The Mavs won 4-2 in their series with Utah, covering five of the six games. In fact, the Mavs are 11-3-1 ATS their last 15 games. The Suns finally got healthy and it showed in game one, though the Mavs made it closer at the end then the game ever was. Game two here today and the Mavs are looking to steal a game and gain home court. I believe they put forth their best effort here tonight. Play Dallas |

05-04-22 | Reds v. Brewers -1.5 | 4-18 | Win | 100 | 9 h 57 m | Show
The Cincinnati Reds continue to prove why they are the worst team in baseball with a 3-20 record and losing seven straight games. The Reds lost again on Tuesday in their opening game with the Brewers, 3-6. In fact, 17 of their losses this year have been by two or more runs. Vladimir Gutierrez looks for his first win in four starts. He has a 0-4 record and 7.41 ERA with a 1.941 WHIP. The NL Central first place Brewers have won six of their last seven games. Freddy Peralta will start today with a 0-1 record and 5.00 ERA. Peralta coming of his best start of the Year, a six inning outing vs the Pirates where he allowed just three hits and no runs with no walks and seven KO's. I'm sticking with what keeps working. Take Milwaukee on the Run Line. |
05-03-22 | Reds v. Brewers -1.5 | Top | 3-6 | Win | 100 | 15 h 24 m | Show |
The Cincinnati Reds have been stuck on 3 wins for the season for the last six loss in a row. The Reds just cannot seem to get out of the doghouse after losing to Colorado on Sunday, 1-10. The Reds have allowed seven runs or more in five of their last six games. Tyler Mahle will get the start today. Mahle has one of the three Reds wins on the season as he sits at 1-3 overall with a 4.24 ERA. The Milwaukee Brewers are 15-8 overall and in 1st place in the NL Central. The Brewers had their five game win streak snapped on Sunday by the Cubs, 0-2. This pitching staff has allowed two runs or fewer in five straight games. Brandon Woodruff starts today with a 2-1 record, 5.30 ERA and 1.339 WHIP. However, in his two home starts he has a 2-0 record and 0.00 ERA and 0.636 WHIP. I'll lay the Run line today with the Brewers. |
05-03-22 | Bucks v. Celtics -4.5 | Top | 86-109 | Win | 100 | 7 h 9 m | Show |
The Boston Celtics lost home court in the first game of their semi-final series with the Milwaukee Bucks. The Celtics getting beat soundly in game one, 89-101. You have to go back to December 29th for the last time the Celtics scored fewer points. They hit a miserable 33% from the field and were out-rebounded. Now they can ill afford to go down 0-2 on their home court. The Celtics are too good a team having won 55 games to do so. Plus, the Bucks are happy to escape Boston 1-1 so I don't look for a win here today by the Bucks. I'll lay the points with Boston and see if they can even the series. Play Boston. |
05-02-22 | Mavs v. Suns -5.5 | Top | 114-121 | Win | 100 | 9 h 8 m | Show |
Game one of this best of seven series between the Mavericks and the Suns from Phoenix tonight. The Mavericks took six games to beat Utah including winning the last two games. The Jazz also covered every game in that series except the first game. The Suns had the best record in the regular season, but had to go to six games to beat the New Orleans Pelicans. They did have some injury issue with Devin Booker is recovering from a hamstring injury. Booker looked limited in game six of the Pelicans series but looks ready to go at full speed here in game one tonight. With the Suns back at full strength I do like them here in game one. Play Suns. |
05-01-22 | Warriors -2 v. Grizzlies | Top | 117-116 | Loss | -110 | 4 h 54 m | Show |
Game one of this best of seven Semi-Final series between the Golden State Warriors and Memphis Grizzlies. The Warriors won their quarterfinal matchup with the Denver Nuggets 4 games to 1. The Warriors also covered three of the five games in the series. With the exception of the last game, the Warriors hit 50% or better from the field in the other four games. The Warriors were never the dog in any of the five games either. The Memphis Grizzlies won their series with the Minnesota Timberwolves, four games to two. The Grizzlies were tied 2-2 before taking the last two games in the series. The Grizzlies covered three of the six games and were favored in all six games. Game one should be excellent between these team and I'll take the road club here on Golden State. |
05-01-22 | Padres -1.5 v. Pirates | 5-2 | Win | 105 | 4 h 43 m | Show
The San Diego Padres dropped to 14-8 after losing their Extra Inning game on Saturday to the Pirates, 6-7. The Padres have now scored at least six runs in each of their last five games (all going over). Joe Musgrove will take to the hill today with a 3-0 record after four starts. Musgrove also has a nifty 2.16 ERA and 0.880 WHIP. The Pirates improved to 9-12 with their win last night. That win snapped a four game losing streak for the Bucs. They send Mitch Keller to the hill today. Keller is 0-3 in his four starts with a 6.62 ERA and 1.641 WHIP. In his two starts at home he is 0-2 with a 8.63 ERA. I'm going to lay the Run Line here today with the Padres and a very good Musgrove on the hill. |
04-30-22 | Yankees -1.5 v. Royals | 3-0 | Win | 100 | 7 h 59 m | Show
The NY Yankees have taken over first place in the AL East thanks to a seven game win streak. The Yankees beat the Royals in game one of their series, 12-2. The Bronx Bombers have been hitting the cover off the ball in recent games, outscoring their opposition 49-19 over their last five games. Gerrit Cole gets the start today with a 1-0 record in his four starts. He has a 4.00 ERA and 1.166 WHIP. Cole coming off his best start of the season against Cleveland, pitching 6 2/3 innings and allowing four hits and no runs. The Royals dropped to 7-11 with last night's loss to the Yankees. That makes them 2-6 over their last eight games. Carlos Hernandez starts today with no record over his three starts. He also has a 6.43 ERA and 1.787 WHIP. The way the Yanks are hitting the ball and with a suspect pitcher on the hill for the Royals, I'll lay the Run Line with the Yankees. |
04-30-22 | Nationals v. Giants -1.5 | 3-9 | Win | 100 | 4 h 53 m | Show
The Nationals pulled a huge shock on Friday by scoring 14 runs against one of the best pitching staffs in baseball, the Giants. That was not only a season high in runs for the Nats, but more runs then their last seven games combined. Joan Adon gets the start for the Nats today with a 1-3 record in four starts. Adon has a 6.98 ERA and 1.655 WHIP. He has one start vs the Giants and went four innings, allowing six hits and five runs to absorb the loss. The Giants fell a half game back of the Padres in the NL West with last night's loss. The 14 runs allowed by the Giants were more than they have allowed combined in their last six games. Logan Webb starts today with a 2-1 record and 2.96 ERA. I look for the Giants to rebound big time here today vs the Nats. I'll lay the Run Line with San Francisco. |
04-29-22 | Nationals v. Giants -1.5 | 14-4 | Loss | -100 | 11 h 1 m | Show
The Washington Nationals look to snap a 8-game losing streak as they head West to begin a West Coast swing that could get ugly with the Giants up first. The offense has been horrible, scoring three runs or fewer in nine straight games. Don't expect it to get any easier tonight against one of the best pitching staffs in baseball. Aaron Sanchez will toe the rubber for the Nats. Sanchez has one start and it wasn't pretty, just 4 1/3 innings, six hits and four runs against these Giants in a 2-5 loss. The Giants are just a half game back of the Padres in the very good NL West with a 13-6 record. The Giants lost a tough one last night their Bay City Rivals, Oakland, 0-1. That snapped a five-game winning streak for the Giants. Alex Wood goes today with a 2-0 record in his three starts. Wood has a nifty 2.51 ERA with a 1.186 WHIP and has 16 KO's against just four walks. I'll lay the RUN LINE here tonight with the Giants. |
04-29-22 | Yankees -1.5 v. Royals | 12-2 | Win | 100 | 9 h 55 m | Show
The NY Yankees have got hot, winning six straight games to pull within a half game of AL East leader Toronto at 13-6. The Yankees have been hitting well too, scoring 37 runs over their four games while allowing 16. Nestor Cortes starts for the Yanks and has no record after three starts. However, he could easily be 3-0 with his 1.15 ERA and 0.639 WHIP. Cortes allowed his first runs of the season his last game, a 6 1/3 effort vs the Guardians, allowing 1 hit and two runs, 8 KO's and two walks. In fact, he now has 25 KO's and just two walks. The Royals improved to 7-10 with their win on Thursday over the White Sox, 5-2. Still, they have lost five of their last seven games. Kris Bubic will start today with a 0-1 record in three starts. He has last more than two innings just one time and has a 14.14 ERA and 3.000 WHIP. The Yankees with Cortes should walk away with this one. I'll lay the RUN LINE with the Yankees. |
04-28-22 | Mavs v. Jazz | 98-96 | Win | 100 | 10 h 51 m | Show
The Dallas Mavericks can close out this best of seven series here tonight, but it will take a win at Utah. The Mavs opened this series with a loss at home to the Jazz, 93-99. Then rebounded with a pair of wins, including one at Dallas to take a 2-1 lead. They lost game four at Utah, 99-100 to even the series and then won game five on their home court, 102-77. If they win tonight they will be the only road team thus far to close out a series on the road. The Jazz Donovan Mitchell has been upgraded to probable for tonight's contest as he's been ailing with a quad injury. Otherwise both teams are healthy for this game. This game is virtually a pick'em so I'll take the Mavs here tonight to see if they can win the series. |
04-27-22 | Padres -1.5 v. Reds | 8-5 | Win | 100 | 6 h 54 m | Show
The San Diego Padres improved to 11-7 with their win over the Reds on Tuesday, 9-6. The Padres need to take advantage of these types of games since they play in the tough NL West division. Mackenzie Gore will start today for the Padres. Gore is 1-0 in his two starts with a 1.74 ERA and 1.065 WHIP. Gore has 10 KO's and four walks. The Reds have just three wins and have lost 12 of their last 13 games. In fact, had you laid the Run Line against them in their last 12 losses you would have won ALL 12 of those games. Vladimir Gutierrez starts today with an 0-3 record in his three starts, a 5.54 ERA and 1.692 WHIP. Walks have been an issue with nine free passes against just nine KO's. I'll lay the run line with the Padres and stick to the plan. |
04-26-22 | Red Sox v. Blue Jays -1.5 | 5-6 | Loss | -100 | 6 h 29 m | Show
The Boston Red Sox have struggled to a 7-10 mark thus far on the season. The Sox have lost three straight and five of their last six games after dropping game one of this series with the Blue Jays last night, 2-6. Moreover, this Red Sox team is having issues scoring runs as they have scored three runs or fewer in seven of their last eight games. Nick Pavetta will start today as he looks for his first win after an 0-3 start to the season. Pivetta has had it rough, allowing 13 runs over 11 2/3 innings (10.03 ERA) and having nine walks and 10 KO's on the year. Meanwhile, the Toronto Blue Jays are in 1st in the NL East with a 11-6 record after beating Boston last night. The Jays have won five of their last six games. Kevin Gausman is 1-1 after three starts for the Jays with a 2.89 ERA and 1.125 WHIP. He has not allowed a walk yet this year against his 22 KO's. Gausman should have little trouble against the offensively struggling Sox team tonight. I'll lay the Run Line with the Blue Jays. |
04-26-22 | Hawks v. Heat -6.5 | Top | 94-97 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 51 m | Show |
The Miami Heat can wrap-up their best of seven series tonight on their home court. The Heat lead the series 3-1 after taking the first two games at home and then splitting the next two at Atlanta. They won game four in Atlanta, 110-86. They have also covered three of the four games in the series. That makes nine out of the last 11 games the Heat have covered. The one mark against the Heat tonight will be the loss of guard Kyle Lowry, who is out tonight with a leg injury. Is this an issue tonight? Well, consider that Lowry also missed game four and the Heat still won by 24 points. I believe this will be more of an issue going forward in their next series. For me, I'm taking the Heat to wrap it up tonight and cover this game. Play Miami. |
04-26-22 | Padres -1.5 v. Reds | 9-6 | Win | 100 | 6 h 1 m | Show
It's a dog fight in the best MLB division in baseball, the NL West. The Padres expect to be in the thick of it too as they sit 10-7 overall right now and in fourth place. The Padres are coming off a loss on Sunday to the Dodgers, 2-10, losing two of the three games to LA. Now they get to feast on what has been the worst team in baseball, the Reds. Joe Musgrove will get the start today as he's 2-0 after three starts with a nice 1.89 ERA and 0.737 WHIP. Musgrove has 21 KO's and just one walk on the season. The Reds finally snapped a 11-game losing streak on Sunday with their win over the Cardinals, 4-1. It was also the most runs the Cardinals have scored since tehy got five runs against the Guardians back on April 12th. River Sanmartin has struggled in his two starts this year, going 8 total innings and allowing 12 hits and 10 runs for a 11.75 ERA and 2.350 WHIP. He also has as many walks on the year as KO's (6). The Reds look to have a long season and it won't get any easier against Musgrove tonight. Play the Padres on the Run Line. |
04-24-22 | Giants -1.5 v. Nationals | 12-3 | Win | 100 | 3 h 5 m | Show
Three teams in the NL West now have 10 wins and the Giants are one of them as they trail the Dodgers by just a half game in the division. It's going to be a dog fight between the top three all season. The Giants have won two straight games after taking the first two in this series with Washington. They have outscored the Nationals, 12-3 with their outstanding pitching putting the cuffs on the Nats. No relief in this staff either as Logan Webb takes to the rubber today. Webb is 1-1 with a 2.55 ERA and 1.075 WHIP in his three starts. Washington has dropped to 6-11 after losing four straight games. Joan Adon will look to snap that losing streak. Adon is 1-2 with a 5.87 ERA after three starts. Adon doesn't have the best control either with nine walks in three games. Can't go against this Giants staff with a poor Nats team. I'll lay the run line today with the Giants. |
04-23-22 | Giants -1.5 v. Nationals | 5-2 | Win | 100 | 3 h 35 m | Show
The San Francisco Giants opened this 3-game set at Washington with a convincing win on Friday, 7-1. The Giants improved to 9-5 overall and 2nd place in the NL West. Alex Wood gets the start for the Giants and has pitched excellent after two starts. Wood has a 1-0 record with a 1.93 ERA, allowing nine hits over 9 1/3 innings with three walks and 11 KO's. The Nationals are 6-10 on the season and have now droped three straight games. During this losing streak they have scored a total of six runs and allowed 22 runs. The Nationals will start Aaron Sanchez today who just recently joined the team. Sanchez has three Triple-A starts with a 3.60 ERA and 1.48 WHIP. Don't really think it matters who the Nats start, the Giants have too many excellent pitchers. Lay the Run Line with the Giants. |
04-20-22 | 76ers v. Raptors +2 | Top | 104-101 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 46 m | Show |
The Toronto Raptors return home for game three of their best of seven series with the Sixers down 0-2. They lost game on in Philly, 111-131 and then lost game two, 97-112. This is a pivotal game three as they can ill afford to go down 0-3 in this series. Up until this series, the Sixers had not been a good covering team. Yet they covered both games so far in this series. The Raptors do have a few good things here in game three. They are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 home games vs a road team with a winning record. They are also 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games playing on one day rest. The Raptors are 5-1 ATS in their last six games vs the Sixers in Toronto. I'll take the Raptors here as it's do or die. Play Toronto. |
04-19-22 | Pelicans v. Suns -9.5 | Top | 125-114 | Loss | -110 | 10 h 39 m | Show |
The Phoenix Suns showed the league why they are the best team in the NBA this year as they opened the playoffs with a decisive win over the Pelicans in game one, 110-99, covering the 10-point spread. Despite the close cover, the Suns led by double digits most of the way. Phoenix has now covered four of their last five playoff games as the favorite and is 4-0 ATS their last four quarterfinal games. New Orleans will try and avoid returning home down 0-2. They haven't done well lately against good teams, going 1-6 ATS the last seven against a winning team. They are also 0-4 ATS their last four as a dog. I don't look for Phoenix to have any more trouble then they did in game one. Of all the games in round one, this is the one that believes plays out just as it should, a Phoenix blowout. |
04-19-22 | Reds v. Padres -1.5 | 2-6 | Win | 111 | 9 h 20 m | Show
The San Diego Padres opened their three game set with the Reds with a 4-1 win on Monday. The Padres were one of my Run Line Rout plays on Monday and they didn't disappoint. The Padres have now held their last two opponents to two total runs. They have also gone under in four straight games and nine of their 12 games this season. Doesn't look to get any easier tonight for the Reds as they face Joe Musgrove. Musgrove is 1-0 after two starts with a 1.42 ERA and 0.710 WHIP. He's allowed just nine hits and two runs over his 12 2/3 innings with 14 KO's and no walks. The Reds are in free fall right now, having lost seven straight games and nine of their last 10. They have scored two runs or fewer in four straight games and three runs or fewer in six straight games. Reiver Sanmartin will start tonight and he looks to improve after a horrendous initial start. Sanmartin went just 2 1/3 inning vs the Braves, allowing four hits and five runs in the loss. I'm looking at a San Diego blowout here tonight. |
04-18-22 | Braves v. Dodgers -1.5 | 4-7 | Win | 100 | 10 h 37 m | Show
The World Champion Atlanta Braves come to LA tonight to face the Dodgers and will also face their former All-Star 1B Freedie Freeman who now anchors the 1B bag for LA. The Braves will also bring former LA closer Jansen back to LA for the first time since being dealt to Atlanta. The Braves are just 5-6 overall and split their four game series to open this West Coast swing with the Padres. After giving up 12 runs to the Padres in the first game, they held San Diego to just six total runs the next three games. Huascar Ynoa will start here today. Ynoa went just three innings in his first start against the Nationals, allowing seven hits and five runs to take the Loss. The Dodgers are 7-2 and heavy favorites to win the World Series this year. And if former Ace Clayton Kershaw pitches like he did in his opener, those odds may go up. Kershaw left the game after seven innings with a perfect game. Some thought he should have come back out, but Dave Roberts didn't want to strain a pitcher who has had a lot of injury issues over the last years. LA looks tough and we'll see if Kershaw is near as perfect as he was in his first start. I'll lay the Run Line with the Dodgers tonight. |
04-18-22 | Reds v. Padres -1.5 | 1-4 | Win | 120 | 9 h 7 m | Show
The Cincinnati Reds look to snap out of a bad losing streak as they have dropped six straight games to be 2-8 on the season. Problem is it won't get much better at the Padres tonight. Nick Lodolo will try to put a stop to the losing streak. He went four innings in his first start against Cleveland, allowing seven hits and five runs to collar the loss. The Padres should be salivating at the sight of the Reds coming to town. San Diego is 6-5 on the season but their last seven games have come against the Braves and Giants where they went 3-4. Sean Manaea will start his third game of the season. Manaea is 1-1 with a 1.38 ERA and 0.538 WHIP. He's allowed just two runs over 13 innings with 13 KO's and just three walks. I'll lay the Run Line here tonight with the Padres who should win this one in a Rout! |
04-18-22 | Jazz v. Mavs +5.5 | 104-110 | Win | 100 | 6 h 13 m | Show
Utah looks to take a commanding 2-0 lead back to Utah with a win here tonight at Dallas. the Jazz won game one, 99-93 as a 5-point favorite. The Jazz held Dallas to just 38.2% shooting from the field and 28.1% from the 3-point line. The Jazz are just 3-9 ATS their last 12 games as a road favorite. Dallas looks to eve the series tonight. The Mavs loss on Saturday was just the teams 2nd loss in their last nine games. The Mavs are also 6-2-1 ATS their last nine games. The Mavs also bounce back well, covering 16 of the last 22 times after a ATS loss. The Mavs are 10-4-1 ATS the last 15 vs the Jazz in Dallas and 5-1 ATS the last six overall. I look for a Dallas rebound tonight as they even the series. |
04-18-22 | Raptors +7.5 v. 76ers | 97-112 | Loss | -107 | 7 h 58 m | Show
The Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers play game two of their best of seven series here tonight. The Sixers had little issue with the Raptors in game one, cruising to a 20-point win, 131-111 as a 4.5 point favorite. Tonight that line has jumped to seven as the oddsmaker compensates for that blowout win. The Raptors had been good for bettors. They are 5-2 ATS in their last seven quarterfinal games. They are 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 playoff games as a underdog and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games. Still, they get no respect from the oddsmaker here tonight. Philadelphia has been winning but not covering until recently. The Sixers are 6-1 S/U their last seven games but just 3-4 ATS. Philly is also 3-7 ATS their last 10 games overall. The Raptors have covered four of the last five in this series. I look for a rebound here by Toronto tonight, if not a straight-up win. Play Toronto. |
04-17-22 | Pelicans v. Suns -10 | 99-110 | Win | 100 | 9 h 16 m | Show
The New Orleans Pelicans made it to the main playoff even with a pair of play-in wins over San Antonio (113-103) and a come-from-behind win over the Clippers, 105-101. Now they face the best regular season team in the NBA, the Phoenix Suns. The Pelicans have been a decent spread covering team this year. Though they were just 1-5 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record. The Pelicans have also covered just one of the last five meetings against the Suns. The Phoenix Suns were the standout in the NBA this year, holding the best overall record at 64-18 overall and beating the next closest team by a lot. While the Suns did lost four of their last six games of the season they were resting players as those games had no bearing on their best record in the NBA. Phoenix is now 13-5 ATS in their last 18 playoff games when installed the favorite. They are also 6-2 ATS in their last eight conference quarterfinal games. I'm going to lay the points here today with the best team in the NBA. |
04-17-22 | Bulls v. Bucks -10.5 | 86-93 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 46 m | Show
The Bulls and Bucks begin game one of their best of seven series here today at Milwaukee. The Bulls ended the regular season with a win over Minnesota, 124-120. That win snapped a four game losing streak by the Bulls. The Bulls are now just 4-10 ATS their last 14 games against a team with a winning record. They are also 7-21 ATS their last 28 games as a underdog and 3-10 ATS the last 13 when those dog games were on the road. Milwaukee finished the regular season with a 51-31 record and lost a meaningless game at Chicago on the final day, 115-133. The Bucks are now 6-1-1 ATS their last eight games in the Conference Quarterfinals. The Bucks have also covered five of the last seven games in this series. I'll take the Bucks and lay the points here today. |
04-16-22 | Raptors +5 v. 76ers | 111-131 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 30 m | Show
The Toronto Raptors had a fine season, finishing 48-34 and right behind Philly in the Atlantic division. The Raptors finished the regular season with a loss at the Knicks, 94-105. However, they did go 14-4 S/U and 12-6 ATS their last 18 games. Philly finished 51-31 and tied for first in the division with the Boston Celtics. While Philly won five of their last six games, they only covered two of those. The Raptors have covered the last four games in this series with the Sixers. I'll take the points and Raptors here in game one. |
04-16-22 | Wolves v. Grizzlies -6.5 | Top | 130-117 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 21 m | Show |
The Timberwolves and Grizzlies begin their best of seven series here today at Memphis. The T'Wolves split their last four games 2-2 S/U and 1-3 ATS. The Wolves are just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games as a dog. They are also 3-8 ATS their last 11 rod games vs a team with a winning home record. Memphis finished the regular season with a loss to the Celtics, 110-139 in what was a meaningless game for the Grizzlies. Still, they would like to get back to the streak that saw them win seven straight games. Unlike Minnesota, Memphis has been hot vs the number. They are 17-4 ATS their last 21 games at home. They are 14-3 ATS their last 17 as a home favorite. They have also dominated the T'Wolves of late, covering the last 16 of 21 meetings. They are even better at Memphis, going 24-8 ATS their last 32 vs the T'Wolves. I'm taking Memphis here in game one. |
04-16-22 | Diamondbacks v. Mets -1.5 | 3-2 | Loss | -100 | 3 h 35 m | Show
The Mets continue to play well and their pitching staff continues to dominate. The Mets punished Arizona on Friday to the tune of a 10-3 win. Only one Mets starter has a ERA of 3.00 or higher and that's Max Scherzer who has a 3.27 ERA. Arizona is just 2-5 and lost five of their last six games. Zac Gallen makes his first start of the season for the D'backs. Gallen was 4-10 last year with a 4.30 ERA. Don't expect Gallen to make much difference here today against the Mighty Mets. I'll lay the Run Line like I did yesterday with the Mets. |

04-15-22 | Pelicans +4.5 v. Clippers | Top | 105-101 | Win | 100 | 9 h 57 m | Show |
Win and move on, lose and you go home. That's the theme here tonight for these two teams. The Pelicans won their first play-in game last Wednesday, beating the San Antonio Spurs 113-103 as a 5.5-point favorite. The Pelicans are 13-5 ATS in their last 18 road games and 10-4 in their last 14 road games as a dog. The LA Clippers got some bad news today when star shooting guard Paul George tested positive for Covid and will have to miss this game. That's a huge loss since they are already playing without their Superstar forward Kawhi Leonard. The Clippers lost their opening Play-In Round game to the T'Wolves, 104-109. This line dropped to a pick'em with George out tonight. I'm taking the Pelicans as they move onto the seeded playoffs. |
04-15-22 | Diamondbacks v. Mets -1.5 | 3-10 | Win | 100 | 2 h 27 m | Show
Early game on the schedule today has the Arizona Diamondbacks taking on the Mets. Arizona has struggled to a 2-4 start to their season and that isn't good considering they play in arguably the best division in baseball, the NL West. The D'back won their opening game, then dropped four straight before winning on Wednesday against the Astros, 3-2. Zach Davies gets the call to the mound today for the D'backs. Davies pitched well in his opener and got a no decision for his effort. Davies went five innings, allowed four hits and two runs against the Padres which the D'backs eventually lost, 2-5. The NY Mets are off to a nice 5-2 start and have to be considered a favorite to win the division. The Mets are a great pitching team, in fact all five starters have a ERA of 3.27 or less this year. Today's starter, Chris Bassitt went six strong innings in his opening game against the Nationals. Bassitt allowed just three hits and no runs to go with eight KO's and one walk. I don't see the D'back light hitting team getting much today if not shut out entirely. The Mets shouls have little trouble with Arizona. I'll lay the Run-Line with New York today. |
04-13-22 | Spurs +6 v. Pelicans | Top | 103-113 | Loss | -110 | 12 h 43 m | Show |
NBA Play-In tournament continues here today as the San Antonio Spurs take on the New Orleans Pelicans. The Spurs finished the regular season with a 34-48 record. They did lose their last three games though they covered two and pushed the other. In fact, this Spurs team has bee a very good team vs the number, going 5-0-1 ATS the last six games and 9-1-1 ATS their last 11 games. The New Orleans Pelicans have a lot of injury questions coming into today. However, two seem solved with center James Valancions and forward Brandon Ingram now both probable for today. Forward Zion Willamson does remain out though with a foot injury. The Pelicans finished the regular season with two losses both S/U and ATS. The Spurs have covered eight of the last nine in this series and all seven of the last seven meetings in New Orleans. I'll take the Spurs here in the Play-In game. |
04-13-22 | Hornets +5.5 v. Hawks | 103-132 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 2 m | Show
Play-In tourney game here today pits the Charlotte Hornets against the Atlanta Hawks. The Hornets surprised everyone this year with a 43-39 record and 3rd place SouthEast division finish. The Hornets finished the season strong, winning and covering their last three games. The Hornets do well with rest, evidenced by their 11-4-1 ATS record when they get two days of rest. They are also 10-4-1 ATS their last 15 games as a road dog and 15-5-1 their last 21 overall on the road. The Atlanta Hawks finished with an identical 43-39 record. The Hawks won and covered their last game of the regular season against the Rockets. The Hornets are 3-1-1 ATS the last five meetings between these teams. Atlanta will also be without forward John Collins who is out with a foot injury. I'm going to take the points here today with the Hornets. |
04-12-22 | Clippers +3 v. Wolves | 104-109 | Loss | -105 | 34 h 2 m | Show
The NBA play-in tournament begins here on Tuesday with the LA Clippers taking on the Timberwolves from Minnesota. The winner gets the No 7 seed in the West Playoff bracket. The Clippers beat the Wolves in three of their four meetings this year. The Clippers continue to play without Kawhi Leonard who will remain out. As for the Wolves, their point guard D'Angelo Russell is questionable for this game with an illness. The Clipper finished strong down the stretch, winning their last five games and covering four of those. The Wolves struggled a bit their last few games, going 1-2 S/U and 0-4 vs the spread. In fact, they were just 2-7 ATS their last nine regular season games. The Clippers have pretty much owned this series, going 4-1 ATS the last five meetings and 15-6-1 ATS the last 22 meetings in Minnesota. I'll take the short points with the Clippers here on Tuesday. |
04-09-22 | Pacers v. 76ers -14 | Top | 120-133 | Loss | -110 | 2 h 16 m | Show |
Early action on the NBA hard court today as the 76ers host the Pacers. The Indiana Pacers are just playing out these last two days before their vacation. However, the Philadelphia 76ers still have something to play for this weekend. The Sixers are in 4th in the East, just a half game behind the Celtics for third place. They are 1.5 games back of Milwaukee and 1.5 games ahead of Toronto. The Sixers had their three-game win streak snapped at Toronto on Thursday, 114-119 as a 3.5-point favorite. Philly will close out their season at home against Detroit tomorrow. Both these games should be wins for the Sixers, which will put some pressure on those teams in front of them. The Pacers won't win here today. They haven't won since March 20th, losing eight straight games. They have also covered just three of their last eight games. The Sixers can't let down now. I'll lay the points with Philly today. |
04-06-22 | Suns v. Clippers -2.5 | Top | 109-113 | Win | 100 | 11 h 55 m | Show |
The Phoenix Suns have the best record in the NBA locked and put away. They really have nothing left to play for in these final days of the regular season. In fact, I won't be surprised to see key players doing a lot of sitting here tonight. The Suns snapped a two-game losing streak last game with a win over the Lakers, 121-110. Still, they haven't covered a game in four straight. The Clippers have already clinched a Playin berth as they currently sit 8th, four games ahead of the Pelicans. The Clippers have won two straight games and covered both after a stretch that saw them go 1-6 S/U and ATS. The Clippers are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 meetings in LA with the Suns and 19-9 ATS the last 28 overall meetings. I'll take the Clippers here tonight. |
04-06-22 | Mavs v. Pistons +8.5 | 131-113 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 56 m | Show
Interconference game here has the West's Dallas Mavericks taking on the East's Detroit Piston. The Pistons are done for the year after this week. They are already eliminated from the playoffs. The Dallas Mavericks are 4th in the West, just one game back of the Warriors and two games ahead of the Jazz. The Mavs have split their last two games, losing at Washington, 103-135 and then beating Milwaukee, 118-112. The Mavs are just 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games. While the Pistons are out of the NBA playoffs, they still are playing hard, winning three straight games including their last over Indiana 121-117 as a 4.5-point road dog. The Pistons are now 5-0 ATS their last five and 17-3 ATS their last 20 games. I'm taking Detroit here as they are fighting to the end. |
04-05-22 | Grizzlies +5.5 v. Jazz | 115-121 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 32 m | Show
West Conference matchup here has 2nd place Memphis taking on 6th place Utah. The Grizzlies have nowhere to go as they are 7-games back of Phoenix and 5.5-games ahead of Golden State. The Grizzlies are hot though and look to keep the momentum as the playoffs start soon. Memphis has won seven straight games and 10 of their last 11 games. They are also 7-2 ATS their last nine games. The Griz are also 14-4 ATS in their last 18 games as a underdog and 41-18 ATS their last 59 games overall. The Utah Jazz can go up or down in the standings since they are right in the middle of a three pack with Denver and Minnesota. The Jazz have not been hot, going 1-6 S/U and 0-7 ATS their last seven games. The Jazz are 15-33-3 ATS their last 51 games overall. They are also 5-16-1 ATS their last 22 games vs a team with a win percentage over 60%. These two usually play high scoring games and I expect we'll see plenty of action tonight too. I'll take the points with a very hot Memphis club. |
04-05-22 | Hornets v. Heat -5.5 | Top | 115-144 | Win | 100 | 9 h 2 m | Show |
As we come down to the finals games of the NBA regular season, Miami finds themselves sitting in 1st place in the East, 2-games against of the Boston Celtics and 2.5 games ahead of Milwaukee and Philly. While the Heat have clinched the SouthEast division, they would like to lock of that top spot in the East. Charlotte looks to hold one of the two Play-In berths in the East. The other currently held by Brooklyn. Charlotte is coming off a loss at Philly, 114-144, failing to cover the 5.5-point dog line. While Charlotte has been good at covering, they don't do well against very good teams. They are just 8-18-2 their last 28 games vs a team with a 60% or better winning mark. Miami had to endure a four-game losing streak in last March. However, they have rebounded and have won four straight both S/U and ATS. More good news tonight, star Jimmy Butler, who has been rested, is probable tonight. I like Miami here, they need to win to lock up that top East Spot. |
04-04-22 | North Carolina +4.5 v. Kansas | Top | 69-72 | Win | 100 | 11 h 53 m | Show |
The NCAA Men's Final comes down to two teams that are not strangers to the Big game, North Carolina and Kansas. North Carolina is 29-9 overall on the season and after losing in the ACC Tournament has won five straight in the NCAA's. They have covered all five also after they beat Duke in the Final Four, 81-77, as a 4.5-point dog. The Tarheels have the 18th ranked efficient offense according to the Kenpom rankings. They have averaged nearly 78 points per game and allowed 68 points. In the NCAA tournament they have averaged 82.2 ppg while allowing 68.2 ppg. They are 39th in defense. North Carolina is looking for its 7th National Title and first with HC Hubert Davis. The Kansas Jayhawks were the only No 1 seed team to make the Final Four this year. They have a 33-6 record and are coming off a blowout win over Villanova, 81-65. The Jayhawks won the Big 12 Tournament this year, just the first time in their last four years. Both of these teams peaked at just the right time and both are loaded with great coaches. The one area Kansas has trouble is foul shooting, where they are just 60% in the tournament. This could prove crucial down the stretch. In a close game like this, I'll take the points. Play North Carolina. |
04-03-22 | Knicks v. Magic +5 | 118-88 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 32 m | Show
The New York Knicks have lost two straight games and dropped to 34-44 overall. Those losses have eliminated the Knicks from the playoffs as they sit 12th, six games back. The biggest loss though came a few days ago when they lost Julius Randle with a quad injury. Looks like Randle is done with the Knicks out of the playoffs. Orlando also wont' be going to the playoffs with their 20-58 record. And while they don't win often, they do better against the spread. They are 4-0 ATS their last four games as a dog. They are also 8-3 ATS their last 11 games with one day of rest. The Magic have also covered four of the last five in this series with the Knicks. Neither team going anywhere, but with Randle now out the Knicks shouldn't be laying these kind of points on the road. I'll take the points with the Magic and they might even win a rare game straight up here today. |
04-03-22 | Wizards v. Celtics -12.5 | Top | 102-144 | Win | 100 | 3 h 33 m | Show |
Early game here on Sunday has the Washington Wizards taking on the Boston Celtics in a NBA Eastern conference clash. Washington was eliminated from the playoffs as they sit 11th, 5.5 games back of 10th place Brooklyn. The Celtics are 3rd in the East and can improve or fall back. They are a half game back of 2nd place Milwaukee and two back of 1st place Miami. The Wizards are just 3-7 ATS their last 10 games as a road dog. They are also 6-16 ATS their last 22 games on one day of rest. The Celtics snapped a two game losing streak with a win over Indiana, 128-123, though they failed to cover the 15-point favorite line. Still, the Celtics are 6-3 ATS their last nine games. The Celtics have also gone 12-4-1 ATS their last 17 games against the Pacers at Boston. I'll lay the big number here today with a Boston team that can still change their playoff position. |
04-02-22 | Nets v. Hawks +2.5 | 115-122 | Win | 100 | 9 h 37 m | Show
Eastern Conference clash here today has the 8th place Brooklyn Nets and Atlanta Hawks both tied in the standings. The Nets, Hornets and Hawks are all holding those last three playoff spots in the East and all three are two games back of Cleveland. All three will make the playoffs, but the question is in which position. That makes this game huge here today for both clubs. The Nets are coming off a loss to Milwaukee in OT, 119-120, as a 2-point favorite. The Nets are 2-3 S/U and 1-4 ATS their last five games. The Nets have not done well as favorites, evidenced by their 9-25 ATM mark their last 34 games in that role. The Atlanta Hawks have been hot, winning and covering their last four games. They are also 9-3 S/U their last 12 games. Atlanta is also 8-0 ATS in their last eight home games vs a team with a winning road record. The Hawks are also 14-6 ATS their last 20 home games. I'll take the home dog Hawks here today. |
04-01-22 | Clippers +7.5 v. Bucks | Top | 153-119 | Win | 100 | 8 h 27 m | Show |
The Basketball Classic Championship here tonight between Fresno State and Coastal Carolina. Fresno State lost three of their last four games to close out their season. They have hit the NIT running though, beating Eastern Washington, Youngstown State and then last game over Southern Utah, 67-48 as a 7-point favorite. Fresno not the best offensive team, as they rank just 148 in the Kenpom offensive efficiency rankings. They do better in defense though, ranking 32nd overall. The Dogs haven't done well covering against winning teams, evidenced by their 3-9 ATS mark their last 12 games. Coastal Carolina Chanticleers have just 19 wins on the season. Though six of those have come in the last seven games. They lost in their conference championship game to Georgia Southern and have since won three straight in this tournament. The last coming over South Alabama, 69-68, as a 1-point dog. Carolina just out of the top 100 in both. Carolina is 6-1 ATS their last seven games. Have to figure Carolina with chance to win today, so I'll take the points with them. |
04-01-22 | Fresno State v. Coastal Carolina +3 | 85-74 | Loss | -110 | 39 h 30 m | Show
The Basketball Classic Championship here tonight between Fresno State and Coastal Carolina. |
03-31-22 | Cavs v. Hawks -5.5 | 107-131 | Win | 100 | 8 h 20 m | Show
The NBA comes down to the wire as teams jockey for playoff position. The Cleveland Cavaliers are in 7th right now, two games ahead of the Nets and three games ahead of the Hawks. The Hawks are holding down that last playoff spot at number 10 and should make the playoffs as they lead 11th place New York by 5.5 games. The Hawks can greatly improve their lot though as they are just a half game back of 9th place Charlotte, one game back of 8th place Brooklyn and three games back of 7th place Cleveland. Cleveland comes in off a loss to Dallas, 112-120, as a 1.5-point dog. The Cavs are just 1-4 S/U their last five games and 0-6 ATS their last six. Atlanta has won three games in a row both S/U and ATS after their blowout win at Oklahoma City on Wednesday, 136-118. The Hawks can improve their playoff spot against a key leader here. I'll take Atlanta. |
03-31-22 | Xavier +4.5 v. Texas A&M | 73-72 | Win | 100 | 17 h 31 m | Show
NIT Championship here today from Madison Sq Garden in NY, NY. The Xavier Musketeers take on the Texas A&M Aggies. Xavier had a rough road to this final, having to beat Cleveland State, Florida, Vanderbilt and St Bonnies. The Muskateers have a very good offense, ranked 39th in the Kenpom adjusted efficiency rankings. The defense isn't bad either, ranked 79th. Xavier is now 35-14-2 ATS in their last 51 games on a neutral site as a dog. Texas A&M still smarting by being passed over for the NCAA now has 27 wins on the season. The Aggies have won four straight at the NIT over Alcorn State, Oregon, Wake Forest and Washington State. They covered three of those four. The A&M Defense is very good, ranked 27th in Kenpom. The offense, not quite as good, ranked 68th. One Achilles heal is that they are not a good offensive rebounding team, 340th in the nation. That doesn't translate into a lot of second chance points. Two very good teams here tonight but for me I like to take the points with a team I know can win outright too. Play Xavier. |
03-30-22 | Grizzlies -4.5 v. Spurs | 112-111 | Loss | -115 | 8 h 40 m | Show
The Memphis Grizzlies have clinched a playoff spot as they sit in 2nd in the NBA West. While 1st place Phoenix is too far away (8.5 games ahead), they do have just a 5-game lead over 3rd place Golden State. However, it's looks like a solid 2nd place spot in the West for the Grizzlies. Memphis has been excellent of late, going 5-0 both S/U and ATS their last five games. They are also 12-3 S/U their last 15 games. The Grizzlies are also 23-8 ATS in their last 31 games as a favorite. They have also played well on the road, going 22-9 ATS in their last 31 away games. The San Antonio Spurs are tied for the last playoff spot in the West with the Lakers. Both teams sit one game back of 9th place New Orleans. The Spurs have won their last four games, covering three of those. However, they are just 2-6 ATS in their last eight overall games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games as a dog and 1-8 ATS in their last nine games as a home dog. The Grizzlies look too tough for the Spurs here on Wednesday. Play Memphis. |
03-30-22 | Heat v. Celtics -4.5 | Top | 106-98 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 34 m | Show |
The Miami Heat have not only clinched their Division, but they have the best record in the NBA Eastern Conference, a half game ahead of Philly and one game back of today's opponent, Boston. The Heat snapped a four game losing streak with a win over Sacramento, 123-100, last game as a 13.5-point favorite. The Heat have not been good at covering spreads, going 1-7 ATS their last eight games. A win tonight by Boston and they will be tied with the Heat. The Celtics had their six game win streak snapped in their last game at Toronto, losing 112-115, but covering the 8.5-point dog line. They have now covered three straight and six of their last seven games. I'll lay the points here tonight with Boston. |
03-30-22 | Wolves v. Raptors -2.5 | 102-125 | Win | 100 | 7 h 39 m | Show
The Minnesota T'wolves are in 7th place in the NBA Western Conference, a good six games ahead of 8th place LA Clippers. They are just two games back of 5th and 6th place Utah and Denver. The Wolves are coming off a loss at Boston, 112-134, as a 6-point dog. That makes them 1-3 S/U over their last four games. They are also just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games as a dog. Toronto is in 6th place in the East, one game ahead of Cleveland and just a half game back of Chicago. Toronto has won three straight games and nine of their last 11 games. They are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games. The Raptors are 23-8 ATS in their last 31 games vs a team with a winning record. The Raptors have covered five of the last six meetings in this series. I'll take Toronto here tonight. |
03-29-22 | Washington State v. Texas A&M -1.5 | Top | 56-72 | Win | 100 | 10 h 53 m | Show |
NIT Semifinals here tonight from Madison Square Garden in NY, NY has Washington State taking on Texas A&M for the right to go to the NIT Finals. Washington State has had a very good run, starting in the PAC-12 tournament where they beat Oregon State, Oregon and Cal before losing to UCLA, 65-75. They then have won three straight in the NIT, beating Santa Clara, SMU and BYU, covering all three games. The Cougars are decent offensive team, ranked 77th in the Kenpom adjusted offensive efficiency rankings. They are a better defensive team, ranking 26th. Offensively they are one of the worst 2-point shooting teams in the nation, ranking 313th with a 46.2%. Texas A&M has been equally impressive as Washington State in their recent run. They beat three very good SEC teams in their tournament against Florida, Auburn and Arkansas, before losing to Tennessee in the finals. They opened NIT with a win over Alorn State, then beat Oregon and lastly Wake Forest. They have covered nine of their last 11 games. They have also won 10 of their last 11 games. The Aggies also have a very good defense, ranked 32nd in the Kenpom rankings and a slightly better offense, ranked 72nd. A&M has been a very streaky team, losing eight in a row mid-season and then closing with a nice win streak. I like A&M here tonight. |
03-29-22 | Bulls -3 v. Wizards | 107-94 | Win | 100 | 8 h 32 m | Show
The Chicago Bulls look to rebound from their loss on Monday to the Knicks, 104-109, as a 3.5-point favorite. The Bulls are currently 5th in the East, tied with the Raptors. They are one game ahead of the Cavaliers and four games up on Brooklyn. They can improve their lot in the playoffs, but they are one 3.5-games back of Philly, Boston and Milwaukee. Washington has won two-straight games including a win last game over Golden State, 123-115. The Wizards are now 32-42 overall and 29-42-3 vs the spread. They are also 3-7 ATS their last 10 games as a home dog. The Wizards are 12th in the East and 5.5-games back of Atlanta for that final playoff spot. Even though the Bulls are slumping of late, they have covered eight of the last 11 meetings with Washington. I'll take the Bulls here tonight. |
03-29-22 | St Bonaventure -1.5 v. Xavier | 77-84 | Loss | -110 | 7 h 23 m | Show
St Bonnys and Xavier meet here tonight in Madison Sq Garden for the right to advance to the NIT Finals. St Bonnies is 23-9 overall on the season after winning three straight in the NIT over Colorado, Oklahoma and last game over Virginia, 52-51, as a 2.5-point Dog. They covered all three games and are now 10-3 ATS their last 13 games. The Bonnies are a very well balanced team, ranking 73rd offense and 78th defense in the Kenpom efficiency rankings. The Xavier Musketeers are 21-13 overall on the season and have beaten Cleveland State, Florida and last game over Vandy, 75-73 in their three NIT Games. They are just 1-3 ATS their last four games. They are also 5-15 ATS their last 20 games. Have a hard time backing a poor covering team like Xavier. I'll lay the small line here tonight with St Bonnies. |
03-28-22 | Southern Utah +7.5 v. Fresno State | Top | 48-67 | Loss | -115 | 11 h 46 m | Show |
The Basketball Classic Semifinals tonight have Fresno State hosting Southern Utah. Winner moves on to the tournament finals. The Southern Utah Thunderbirds are 23-11 overall after winning three straight in this tournament. They opened with a win over Kent State, 83-79, then beat UTEP, 82-69 and last game beat Portland, 77-66, covering all three games. In addition So Utah is 7-2 ATS their last nine games. So Utah has the nation's 87th most efficient offense according to Kenpom. They are 34th in 2-point FG%. This would account for why the team has scored 71 points or more in 10 of the last 12 games. Fresno State also has 23 wins on the season after winning both of their TBC tourney games. They beat Eastern Washington, 83-74, to open the tourney and then beat Youngstown State, 80-71, last game. They have failed to cover both games as a favorite. The Bulldogs are 0-7 ATS in their last seven home games and 2-9 their last 11 games vs a team with a winning record. I'm taking the generous points here today with Southern Utah. |
03-28-22 | Magic v. Cavs -8.5 | 101-107 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 56 m | Show
The Orlando Magic have dropped two games in a row and now sit last in the SouthEast Division at 20-55 S/U and 33-41-1 ATS. They are coming off a loss to the Kings, 110-114 as a 2.5-point favorite. The Magic are now 1-5 ATS their last six games. Cleveland looks to snap a 3-game losing streak here tonight. The Cavs have dropped to 41-33 overall after their most recent loss to Chicago, 94-98 as a 1.5-point home favorite. The Cavs are now 7th in the Eastern conference playoff picture, 4 games ahead of 10th place Atlanta and 5.5 back of first place Boston. Lots of movement possible for the Cavs so wins are important this time of year. I'll take Cleveland tonight. |
03-27-22 | Wolves v. Celtics -5.5 | 112-134 | Win | 100 | 7 h 32 m | Show
The Minnesota Timberwolves having a much better season than many thought they might have had as they sit at 43-32. The NBA regular season is winding down and the Wolves find themselves in 7th in the West, comfortably within the top 10 of the playoff picture. They snapped a two-game losing streak last game with a win over Dallas, 116-95, as a 4-point home favorite. They haven't done too well as a dog of late, going 3-7 ATS in that role their last 10 games. They are also 1-6 ATS in their last seven road games as a dog. Meanwhile, the Celtics are cruising towards the playoffs, winning five games in a row and improving to 46-28. They have moved into a tie for 3rd in the East, just a half game back of both Philadelphia and Miami for he best record in the East. They are also 10-1 their last 11 games. The Celtics are 7-3 ATS their last 10 games as a favorite. I like Boston here today at home. Play Boston. |
03-27-22 | St. Peter's +8.5 v. North Carolina | 49-69 | Loss | -110 | 16 h 31 m | Show
The Cinderella team of 2022 is the St Peter's Peacocks. They opened beating a very good Kentucky team, 85-79, and then upended 30+ win Murray State, 70-60, before beating Purdue in the Sweet 16, 67-64. While the Peacocks have just 22 wins on the season, they have now won 10 straight games both S/U and ATS. The Peacocks do crack the Kenpom defensive rankings, coming in at 25th overall in defensive efficiency. They are holding opponents to just 29.3% from 3-point (15th), 44.3% overall shooting (12th). The defense is so good they have held nine of their last 10 opponents to 65 points or fewer. Only first round win over Kentucky did the Cats score 79 points. North Carolina had better not look past St Peters here today as already having punched their ticket to the Final Four. Purdue made that mistake and they are all home today. North Carolina lost to Virginia Tech in the ACC Conference Tournament, 59-72. Since then they have beaten Marquette, 95-63, Baylor, 93-86 in OT, and last game over UCLA, 73-66. The Tar Heels have the 19th rated efficient offense, according to the Kenpom ratings. They also have the 42nd ranked defense. The key for me in this matchup is the very good St Peters defense holding North Carolina under 70 points. If they can do that, they will cover this game. Play St Peters. |

03-27-22 | Miami-FL +6 v. Kansas | 50-76 | Loss | -110 | 13 h 42 m | Show
If not for being overshadowed by St Peters, Miami Florida would be the longshot team to make it to the Elite 8 with a chance to advance to the Final Four. Miami has beating USC, 68-66, Auburn, 79-61, and last game over Iowa State, 70-56 to advance to today's Elite 8 contest vs Kansas. Miami has covered four straight and six of their last seven games. They are also 19-6-1 ATS their last 26 games as a underdog. Miami has an excellent offense, ranked 18th overall in the country according to the Kenpom adjusted offensive efficiency ratings. They are also 22nd overall in the country in 2-point FG% (55.0%). They are a good but not great defense, ranked 114th overall in defensive efficiency. The Kansas Jayhawks continue in the NCAA where they left off in the Big 12, winning games. After running the table in their conference tourney, the Hawks have beaten Texas Southern, 83-56, Creighton, 79-72 and last game over Providence, 66-61. They have failed to cover their last two games. In fact, they are now 1-5 ATS in their last six NCAA tourney games. Kansas has the 6th ranked most efficient offense and 23rd ranked defense, making them a very well balanced team. Kansas is the last remaining No 1 seed in the tournament and the now favorite to win it all. Miami has outscored their last two opponents (Auburn and Iowa State) by 32 points. Miami as the defense to stay close to Kansas here today. I'll take the points with Miami to cover here today. |
03-26-22 | Arkansas v. Duke -3.5 | Top | 69-78 | Win | 100 | 8 h 14 m | Show |
Coach K's run toward his final season glory is still alive. Coach K retires after this year for Duke and they aren't ready to let him go just yet. After losing to Virginia Tech in the ACC, Duke has won three straight in the NCAA over Cal Fullerton, 78-61, Michigan State, 85-76, and Texas Tech last game, 78-73. They covered two of the three games. Arkansas pulled off the huge upset last round, beating top seeded Gonzaga, 74-68 as a 9.5-point dog. They held Gonzaga to just 23.8% from three-point line and 37.5% shooting overall. Arkansas has a outstanding defense, ranked 11th in the Kenpom efficiency listings. However, the height advantage definitely goes Duke's way in this game. The Blue Devils are the highest ranked offensive team left in the tournament after Purdue got ousted by St Peter's yesterday. It seems like Duke has been fortunate to advance at every level, however they are playing very well right now. I look at Duke as having all the offensive power in this game to go with their height advantage. Arkansas is the better defensive team, but I see Duke's firepower being too much here today. Play Duke. |
03-26-22 | Pacers v. Raptors -10.5 | 91-131 | Win | 100 | 7 h 1 m | Show
The Indiana Pacers are 25-49 overall on the season and 33-39-2 vs the number. The Pacers bring a two-game losing streak into today's contest both S/U and ATS. They are coming off a loss at Memphis, 103-133 as a 11.5-point road dog. The Pacers are just 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games vs a team with a winning record. They are also 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games as a dog. The Raptors are 41-32 overall on the season and 40-32-1 ATS. Toronto is coming off a win at home over Cleveland, 117-104, as a 5-point favorite. They have won seven of their last nine games both S/U and ATS. The Raptors are 29-14 ATS their last 43 meetings with the Pacers in Toronto. I'll lay the points here with Toronto. |
03-26-22 | Houston v. Villanova +2.5 | 44-50 | Win | 100 | 5 h 29 m | Show
Houston has now won six straight games after winning their own conference tournament and now winning round one and two of the NCAA tourney. They beat Illinois in round one, 68-53, as a 3.5-point favorite and then beat Arizona, 72-60 as a 1.5-point dog in round two. The Cougars defense has been the reason they are winning. They held Illinois to jut 34% from the field and then held Arizona to 33.3% from the field. At the same time they hit 46% vs Arizona and 42.4% vs Illinois. Meanwhile, Villanova has won eight games in a row and 13 of their last 14 games. The Wildcats beat Delaware in round one, 80-60, Ohio State in round two, 71-61 and then Michigan in the last round, 63-55. What I like most about Villanova is how deep their bench is. They have six players that will play a lot of minutes and their defense is excellent. I also look for Villanova to slow the pace in the game and spread the floor a lot. This is a veteran Villanova team that is no stranger to the Elite eight in the NCAA tournament. Play Villanova plus the points. |
03-25-22 | Iowa State v. Miami-FL -2.5 | Top | 56-70 | Win | 100 | 12 h 27 m | Show |
Iowa State is the worst offensive team left in the NCAA tournament. The Cyclones are lucky to get out of the 50's in most games these days. In addition their offense is just the 160th ranked efficient offense in the Kenpom rankings. This offense turns the ball over a lot (294th in the country), doesn't hit 3-pointers (265th in the country) and is a poor free thrown shooting team (290th in the country). Yet, here they are in the Sweet 16. They beat LSU, 59-54, holding the Tigers to just 54 points. Then last game they beat Wisconsin, holding the Badgers to just 49 points. Bottom line for this Cyclones team is that they won't outscore anyone. So here comes Miami, a team that has scored at least 71 points in 11 of their last 12 games. They beat USC in round one, 68-66 (their only game under 70) and then last game over Auburn, 79-61, as a 6.5-point dog. I think time has run out for this Iowa State team. I'm taking Miami here tonight. |
03-25-22 | Knicks v. Heat -7.5 | 111-103 | Loss | -108 | 7 h 51 m | Show
The New York Knicks are 31-42 S/U and 34-39 after winning their last game at Charlotte, 121-106. That snapped a two game losing streak for the Knicks. The Knicks could be without a key cog in their team tonight, center Julius Randle is questionable with a quad injury. Randle average 20.3 ppg and 10 rebounds. The Miami Heat are having a fine season at 47-26 overall and 40-31-2 vs the spread. The Heat look to snap a two-game losing streak here tonight. They are coming off a loss to the Warriors, 104-118, as a 10-point favorite. The Heat usually bounce back after such a poor home performance the game before, evidenced by their 5-0 ATS mark the last five games after a double-digit home loss. The Heat have the edge in this series, going 8-2 ATS their last 10 meetings and 4-1 ATS the last five in Miami. I'll take the Heat here tonight. |
03-25-22 | Providence +7.5 v. Kansas | 61-66 | Win | 100 | 10 h 40 m | Show
The Providence Friars look to punch their ticket to the Elite 8, but it will take a upset win over Kansas today. Providence has beaten South Dakota State, 66-57, and then Richmond, 79-51, to get to the Sweet 16. They covered both those games and have covered five of their last seven games. Providence has the 31st ranked most efficient offense in the Kenpom rankings and 57th in defense. Kanas hit the 30 win mark with their NCAA tourney win over Creighton, 79-72. They did fail to cover that game as a 12.5-point favorite. The Big 12 Tourney Champion has won seven straight games. Kansas has the 6th ranked most efficient offense and the 28th ranked defense. Providence is now 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games as a dog. As good as Kansas is, they are just 1-4 ATS in their last five NCAA tourney games. I'm taking the points here with Providence today. |
03-25-22 | Wizards v. Pistons -3.5 | 100-97 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 47 m | Show
The Washington Wizards dropped to 30-42 after losing two straight games. The Wizards are coming off a loss at Milwaukee, 102-114, as a 8.5-point dog. In addition, the Wizards have been horrible vs the number, going 2-7 ATS their last nine games. In addition, they are just 8-21-1 ATS their last 30 road games. Washington will be without star guard Bradley Beal, who remains out with a wrist injury. They could also miss forward Kyle Kuzma, who is nursing a knee injury. The Detroit Pistons are just 20-53 overall on the season. However, they have been decent vs the spread, going 40-33 overall. They have covered 14 of their last 16 games. They are also 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games. Detroit has been great at covering spreads and I don't see that changing tonight against a injured Washington team. Play Detroit. |
03-24-22 | Houston +1.5 v. Arizona | Top | 72-60 | Win | 100 | 20 h 10 m | Show |
It's the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament and we get a great matchup here on Thursday as Houston takes on Arizona. Houston advanced here by beating UAB in round one, 82-68, and then Illinois in the 2nd round, 68-53. That makes five straight wins for the Cougars both SU and ATS since they rolled through their conference tourney also. Houston is now 11-1 their last 12 games S/U and 9-2 ATS their lasts 11 games. Houston has one of the best balanced teams in college basketball, ranked 10th both in offensive and defensive efficiency by Kenpom. They also hit the boards really well, 3rd in the nation in offensive rebounds 37.7% and 8th in blocked shots. Arizona Wildcats have beaten Wright State, 87-70, and TCU, 85-80 in the NCAA Tournament. However, they didn't cover either of those games. Arizona is slightly better on offense than Houston, 7th overall, but worse in defense, 17th overall. Should be a great game to watch, but for me I'm taking the Cougars plus the couple of points. Play Houston. |
03-24-22 | Texas Tech v. Duke | 73-78 | Loss | -115 | 19 h 10 m | Show
Coach K looks to continue his final year as the head coach of Duke with a semifinal win here on Thursday. The Blue Devils have beaten Cal Fullerton and Michigan State to get here today. The latter was their only cover in their last six games. Duke hasn't fared well lately in the NCAA tournament, covering just one of their last eight games. They face a Texas Tech team who beat Montana State in round one, 97-62 and then Notre Dame in round two, 59-53. Texas Tech has a very good offense, ranked 45th overall in the adjusted Kenpom efficiency. However, it's their defense that stands out, No 1 in the nation in the Kenpom defensive efficiency rankings. There is very little negative you can point out about this Tech team. The few problem areas are free throws (253rd) and 3-point FG (252nd). But its the defense that will win this game today for the Red Raiders. Take Texas Tech. |
03-24-22 | Michigan v. Villanova -5 | 55-63 | Win | 100 | 17 h 39 m | Show
Michigan got by Colorado State in round one of the NCAA, 75-63, as a 1.5-point favorite. Then they played a near perfect game to defeat heavily favored Tennessee, 76-68, as a 7-point dog. The Wolverines weren't expected to get past Tennessee, but when you play such a exceptional game it's not hard to see why they are now in the Sweet 16. Michigan is really lucky to be in the NCAA Tournament as they have just 19 wins overall on the season. Many didn't think they deserved to even be here while other, arguably better teams were passed by. Villanova improved to 28-7 after running the Big East tourney for the Title and now rattling off two NCAA wins over Delaware and Ohio State. That makes seven straight wins for the WildCats. They are also 5-3 ATS their last eight games. The Wildcats are now 19-7 ATS in their last 26 NCAA tournament games. I believe the Michigan luck runs out here today. Play Villanova. |
03-24-22 | Arkansas v. Gonzaga -9.5 | 74-68 | Loss | -110 | 16 h 19 m | Show
The Arkansas Razorbacks get the distinction of trying to take down top seeded Gonzaga here today. Arkansas lost to Texas A&M in the SEC tournament, but has beaten Vermont, 75-71, and New Mexico State, 53-48 in the NCAA Tournament. Arkansas has a very good defense, ranked 14th overall in the nation the Kenpom adjusted defensive rankings. On offense, they rank 53rd overall. Their one area of concern is 3-point shooting where they were just 30.5%, ranking them 314th in the nation. The Razorbacks are 4-0 ATS in their last four games as a dog and 14-5-1 ATS their last 20 games overall. Gonzaga had troubles in its last game against Memphis. They couldn't shake Memphis as the game was within the spread almost the entire way. Gonzaga did win, 82-78, but couldn't cover the 10-point favorite line. My feeling here is that the Memphis game will serve as a wake up call for this Gonzaga team today. Gonzaga has the top ranked offensive efficiency team in the nation and is fist in 2-point shooting (61%) and 22nd in 3-point (37.4%). This offense has too much firepower for Arkansas and while Arkansas is a very good defensive team, they can't handle Gonzaga. Play Gonzaga. |
03-23-22 | Rockets v. Mavs -10 | Top | 91-110 | Win | 100 | 9 h 17 m | Show |
Southwest Division battle here between a pair of Texas teams as the Dallas Mavs host the Houston Rockets. The Houston Rockets are 18-54 S/U on the season and 28-43-1 ATS. The Rockets snapped a five-game losing streak with a win over Washington, 115-97, as a 4.5-point dog. The Rockets are just 13-31 ATS their last 44 games as a dog and 0-5 ATS their last five road games as a dog. The Dallas Mavericks are 44-28 S/U and 38-33-1 ATS. The Mavs snapped a two-game losing streak with a win over Minnesota last game, 110-108. That makes Dallas 9-3 S/U their last 12 games. The Mavs are 7-3 ATS their last 10 home games. I'll take the home team here tonight and lay the points with Dallas. |
03-23-22 | Hawks v. Pistons +5.5 | 101-122 | Win | 100 | 7 h 26 m | Show
The Atlanta Hawks played at New York and came from behind in the 4th quarter to win, 117-111, covering the 3.5-point favorite line. That was just the 2nd cover for the Hawks in their last 10 games. The Detroit Pistons had last night off after losing to Portland the night before, 115-119 as a 10-point favorite. The Pistons had covered 13 or their previous 14 games prior to that spread loss. The Pistons have covered five of their last seven meetings with the Hawks. I look for Detroit to get the cover here tonight. |
03-23-22 | Wake Forest +3.5 v. Texas A&M | 52-67 | Loss | -115 | 8 h 3 m | Show
NIT Quarterfinal action here on Wednesday has Wake Forest playing at Texas A&M. After an early exit from their own tournament, Wake Forest opened NIT action with a win over Towson State, 74-64, and then beat VCU on Saturday, 80-74. They covered both those NIT Games and four of their last five games. Texas A&M is 25-12 after winning both their NIT games over Alcorn State, 74-62, and then last game over Oregon, 75-60. They are just 1-2 ATS their last three games. Both of these teams just missed out on at large bids to the NCAA tournament. The Demon Deacons defense is the backbone of this team, ranked No35 in the Kenpom efficiency ratings. Texas A&M went all the way to the SEC title game, losing to Tennessee, 50-65. This should be the best NIT matchup yet, with both teams having felt they should have gone to the NCAA tournament. The SEC has been horrible in tournament play while the ACC has been very good. I'll take the ACC rep here. Play Wake Forest. |
03-22-22 | Middle Tennessee -1.5 v. Abilene Christian | Top | 85-69 | Win | 100 | 10 h 58 m | Show |
Middle Tennessee State takes on Abilene Christian in this CBI Semifinals from Daytona Beach, FL. Winner heads to the CBI championship game against either Northern Colorado or UNC Wilmington. Mid Tenn State Blue Raiders beat Cal Baptist in the first round, 64-58, and then Boston U, 76-46 in the 2nd round, covering vs Boston and pushing vs Baptist. Mid Tenn State has been very good to bettors, going 22-6-2 ATS in their last 30 games. They are also 15-5-1 ATS their last 21 as a favorite. Abilene Christian Wildcats beat Troy in the opening round, 82-70 and then Ohio U yesterday, 91-86, covering both games. Both teams have good offenses, but I give the defensive nod to the Blue Raiders. The Raiders also have been so good against the spread. I am taking Middle Tennessee State in this one. |
03-22-22 | Hawks v. Knicks +3.5 | 117-111 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 34 m | Show
The Atlanta Hawks can get back to the .500 mark here today with a win as they sit at 35-36 overall on the season. The Hawks are also 28-42-1 ATS on the season. Atlanta is coming off a loss to New Orleans, 112-117, as a 5.5-point favorite. While the Hawks have gone 4-2 S/U their last six games, they are only 1-8 their last nine games vs the spread. The Hawks are also just 10-26 ATS their last 36 games on the road. The New York Knicks still have a ways to go if they want to get back to .500 as they sit at just 30-41 overall on the season. The Knicks are coming off a loss to the Jazz, 93-108, as a 3.5-point home dog. New York has been decent vs the number, covering seven of their last nine games. They are also 6-2 ATS their last eight home games. The Knicks are 5-2 ATS their last seven meetings with the Hawks in New York and 10-4-1 ATS the last 15 overall meetings. Take New York here today. |
03-21-22 | Blazers v. Pistons -7.5 | Top | 119-115 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 3 m | Show |
The Portland Trailblazers have dropped to 26-44 after losing four straight games. That includes last time out at Indiana, 98-129, as a 8-point dog. In fact, the Blazers are 1-10 S/U their last 11 games. Portland also has been hurting vs the number, going 3-8 ATS their last 11 games and 2-6 their last eight as a road dog. The Detroit Pistons are just 19-52 overall on the season but have a winning spread record at 39-32 ATS. The Pistons are coming off a loss at Cleveland, 109-113, but covered the 6-point dog spread. Even though the Pistons are 1-5 S/U their last six games they are 13-1 ATS their last 14 games! They are also 5-1 ATS their last six home games. The Pistons has covered four of the last five games in Detroit. Also to note here tonight, the Blazers will be without their best player in Guard Damian Lillard who is out with an abdominal injury. Take Detroit tonight. |
03-20-22 | TCU v. Arizona -9.5 | 80-85 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 10 m | Show
The TCU Horned Frogs were next expected to be playing in the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. They are 21-12 and they finished the regular season losing their last two games. They opened conference tourney play with a win over Texas, 65-60 before losing to Kansas 62-75. Then they opened NCAA play first round action with a win over Seton Hall, 69-42, as a 1.5-point dog. Now they have a much tougher task in Arizona. Arizona is 32-3 on the season and rolled right through the PAC-12 tourney to win the title over UCLA, 84-76 as a 2-point favorite. That makes seven straight wins for the Wildcats including their opening round of the NCAA win over Wright State, 87-70. That makes seven straight games that Arizona has scored at least 81 points. I don't expect this TCU team to be able to hold down Arizona's scoring today. I'll lay the points with Arizona. |
03-20-22 | Miami-FL +7 v. Auburn | 79-61 | Win | 100 | 6 h 23 m | Show
Miami Florida closed out the season winning six of their last eight games. Then won their opening conference tourney game over Boston College, 71-69 before losing Duke in the next round, 76-80. Still. They have covered four of their last five games and eight of their last 11 games. The Auburn Tigers rebounded from their opening SEC tourney loss to Texas A&M, 62-67, with a NCAA 1st round win over Jacksonville State, 80-61, as a 14.5-point favorite. The Tigers have not been good at covering spreads, going 2-5 ATS their last seven games. They are also 0-7 ATS their last seven games following a straight-up win. Miami might not win this game, but they have been very competitive and covering spreads. Play Miami. |
03-20-22 | Iowa State v. Wisconsin -4 | 54-49 | Loss | -110 | 6 h 46 m | Show
A Sweet 16 spot open to the winner of this game today as Iowa State takes on Wisconsin. No 11 Iowa State pulled a 1st round upset win over LSU on Friday, 59-54, as a 3.5-point dog. Third seeded Wisconsin just did get past a stubborn Colgate, 67-60, but failed to cover the 7.5 point spread. Iowa State has had a dramatic turnaround after winning two games last year and now heading to the 2nd round of the NCAA tournament. Iowa State has struggled on offense though, averaging only 66.2 ppg on the season. Wisconsin trailed much of their game to Colgate before rallying late for the win. Wisconsin finds ways to win and that's important in these games. I do not like this Iowa State offense as they have had some really bad games of late. I'll take Wisconsin here as they hold down this Iowa State team. |
03-20-22 | Michigan State +7 v. Duke | 76-85 | Loss | -115 | 5 h 57 m | Show
This 2nd Round NCAA matchup is one of legendary NCAA coachs in Tom Izzo of MSU and Mike Kryzewski of Duke. No 2 Duke had an easy win over CSU Fullerton on Friday, 78-61, as a 18.5-point favorite. Duke has now failed to cover their last five spreads while going 3-2 S/U. No 7 seed Michigan State just got by No 10 Davidson, 74-73. Michigan State has been very good this year hitting 3-point shots, 37.4% overall. Duke looking to push for that title in Coach K's final season before he retires, so some extra incentive here today for the Blue Devils. With two great coaches going here today I'll take the points with Michigan State. |
03-20-22 | Grizzlies -11.5 v. Rockets | 122-98 | Win | 100 | 4 h 5 m | Show
Early game today on the NBA slate has the Memphis Grizzlies traveling to Houston to take on the Rockets. Memphis has been one of the best teams in the NBA today, now 48-23 on the season S/U and 44-26 ATS. The Grizzlies are coming off a loss last game at Atlanta, 105-120, as a 5.5-point road favorite. That snapped a four game win streak for the Grizzlies. The Grizzlies do well after a loss, going 8-1 ATS their last nine games. They also do well vs bad teams, going 15-5 ATS in their last 20 games vs a team with a losing record. The Grizzlies are also 19-8 ATS in their last 27 games as a favorite. Meanwhile, the Rockets are one of the worst teams in the NBA at 17-53 S/U and 27-42-1 ATS. The Rockets have lost four games S/U and are 1-3 ATS their last four. They are 17-39 ATS their last 56 games as a home dog and 12-28 ATS their last 40 games overall. No doubt Memphis can name the score in this one. I am hoping they don't lose interest and just play well enough to win. I'll give that a shot and take Memphis. |
03-20-22 | Dayton v. Vanderbilt -3.5 | 68-70 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 7 m | Show
NIT 2nd Round action here on Sunday has Dayton taking on Vanderbilt. Still at home sites, so Vandy gets the home site advantage in this one. Dayton has won eight of their last nine games and beat Toledo in the opening round of the NIT, 74-55 as a 2-point dog. How the Dayton Flyers didn't make the NCAA I don't know and they will either run the board and prove how good they are or lose interest in a hurry. One injury that concerns them is Malachi Smith, who is questionable with an ankle injury. Vandy finished the season at 18-16 overall and in 11th place in the SEC. Vandy did play well down the stretch, winning four of their last five games and covering five straight and eight of their last nine. They won two games in the SEC tournament over Georgia and Alabama before bowing-out against Kentucky. I will be on Vandy here today with home court. Play Vanderbilt. |
03-20-22 | Ohio State v. Villanova -4.5 | Top | 61-71 | Win | 100 | 4 h 31 m | Show |
NCAA Second round action here on Sunday has 7th seeded Ohio State taking on 2nd seeded Villanova. Ohio State came out of round one with a won over Loyola Chicago, 54-41 while Villanova downed Delaware, 80-60. Ohio State struggled of late, losing four of its last five games before winning in round one. They held the Ramblers to just 27% shooting from the floor. However, the Buckeyes hit just one of 13 three-point shots in the game. Villanova won for the sixth straight time after round one. They held Delaware to just 44% from the field and 15% from 3-point arc. This game seems taylor made for Villanova. Ohio State doesn't have the height to contend in the paint vs the Wildcats. They also don't possess the shooting to dent this Villanova defense. Ohio State will have to rely on its defense to keep them close, but I don't see that happening against a very good Villanova offense. Play Villanova. |
03-20-22 | Houston v. Illinois +3.5 | 68-53 | Loss | -110 | 1 h 0 m | Show
NCAA 2nd ROund Action concludes today as Houston takes on Illinois for the right to move on. Houston beat UAB on Friday, 82-68, in the first round . That makes four wins in a row both S/U and ATS for the Cougars as they hit the 30-win mark for the year. Illinois beat Chattanooga, 54-53, after trailing most of the game to win at the end and advance. They didn't cover the 7.5-point favorite line though. The motto of this team is survive and advance and now they get to finally be a underdog today to the Cougars. I like Illinois because they have depth to the bench over Houston. Houston is predominantly a 3-point shooting team and you live and die by the 3's. I'm going to take the points here with Illinois. |

03-19-22 | Memphis +10 v. Gonzaga | 78-82 | Win | 100 | 11 h 1 m | Show
No 9 Memphis hopes to pull some inspiration from St Peters as it looks to upend a top seed here today in the form of Gonzaga. The Tigers got here with a win over Boise State, 64-53 last Thursday. Gonzaga struggled for bit but finally pulled away in its first round win over Georgia State, 93-72. Memphis looked dead in the water until it won 10 of its final 11 games down the stretch. They then added two more wins in the AAC Tourney before losing to champion Houston in the Title game. Gonzaga is the top offensive team in basketball this year with the best 2-point percentage. They face a Memphis team ranked 28th in defense. The Tigers have had an up and down season, but have proved they can beat any team on a given day. I'm going to take a shot with the points here on Saturday on Memphis. |

03-19-22 | St. Peter's v. Murray State -8 | 70-60 | Loss | -115 | 10 h 16 m | Show
15th seeded St Peters pulled the biggest upset of the NCAA Tournament thus far with their win over Kentucky in OT 85-79. Murray State beat San Francisco, 85-79 to set up this improbable contest here today in round 2. The Peacocks were a 18-point dog to Kentucky and improved to 20-11 overall and 14-6 in their conference. Murray State can punch their ticket the sweet 16 here today. The Racers improved to 31-2 and 18-0 in the OVC with their win over San Francisco. They also are a very high scoring team, averaging 79.7 ppg, good for 14th in the nation. They also posses the 25th ranked defense, holding teams to just63 ppg. This Racers team is very well balanced and while the Peacocks shocked Kentucky, don't expect Murray State to let that happen today. Play Murray State. |

03-19-22 | Michigan v. Tennessee -5.5 | Top | 76-68 | Loss | -110 | 16 h 21 m | Show |
NCAA Tourney 2nd Round action from Indianapolis, IN has 11th seeded Michigan taking on 3rd seeded Tennessee. Michigan trailed Colorado State by as many as 15-points in round one before rallying to win over the Rams, 75-63. Tennessee had it much easier, rolling to an easy win over Longwood, 88-56. It's still a shock that Michigan got an at large bid with 17 wins when teams like Drake were overlooked with 22 wins. Plus, Michigan got knocked out in the 1st Round of the Big 10 Conference tournament by Indiana, 69-74. Further bad news for the Wolverines is that they may be without guard Devante Jones who has a concussion. Tennessee just continues to win, now having won eight straight games including their SEC Tourney Championship win over Texas A&M, 65-50. They have covered four straight games and six of their last eight games. Michigan would have to play a perfect game here today to win against a much better Tennessee club. With Jones possibly out too that is going to be too many hills to climb for this Michigan team. I'll lay the points with the Vols. |

03-19-22 | Western Illinois +8 v. UTEP | 54-80 | Loss | -110 | 5 h 30 m | Show
First round action here in The Basketball Classic has Western Illinois Lethernecks taking on the UTEP Miners at the Don Haskins Center. WIU comes in with a 16-15 overall record and 7-11 in the Summit League. They lost in the conference tournament Quarterfinals to Oral Roberts, 80-68. UTEP lost their conference quarterfinal matchup to Middle Tennessee State in OT, 59-66. WIU had their highest win total in almost 10 years, though they faded down the stretch after starting the season 10-2. WIU is the 24th scoring team in the country with 78.7 ppg this season. UTEP can at least hit the 20-win plateau here with a win today. The Miners offense isn't nearly as good as WIU, averaging just 68.8 ppg on the season. Getting over seven points here today with a very good scoring offense is good enough for me. Play Western Illinois. |

03-19-22 | North Carolina v. Baylor -5.5 | 93-86 | Loss | -110 | 3 h 42 m | Show
Second Round NCAA Tourney action has an early matchup here on Saturday between 8th seeded North Carolina and top seeded Baylor Bears. NCU is off a blowout win over Marquette in round one, 95-63. Baylor also cruised to an easy victory in round one over Norfolk State, 85-49. Surprisingly this will be the first ever meeting between these storied teams on the basketball court. The defending national champion Bears improved to 27-6 with the win and were 14-4 in the Big 10. They hit 57.4% from the field in their win over Norfolk. Both these teams are very good offensive clubs. The difference though is that the NCU defense is not very good. Baylor is one of the better defensive teams in the nation. I will back the defending champs here as they have the more complete team. |

03-19-22 | IUPU Ft Wayne +10 v. Drake | 65-87 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 30 m | Show
CBI Tourney 1st Round action here on Saturday has IPFW taking on Drake in the early game. The Fort Wayne Mastodons are 20-10 on the season and 19-9 ATS. They will take on #1 seed Drake Bulldogs who are 22-9 overall and 9-19 ATS overall. Fort Wayne won their last nine regular season games before losing their tourney game to Northern Kentucky, 43-57, as a 2-point dog. Fort Wayne covered eight of their last 11 games. Have to wonder how motivated Drake will be here today, having to settle for a CBI bid when they just missed on on both the NCAA and NIT tournaments. The Bulldogs won five straight games before losing to Loyola Chicago in the conference tourney, 65-48 as a 5.5-point favorite. Drake is by far the better team here, but motivation does play a big part and Drake has no motivation to be in this tournament. I'll take the points with IPFW. |

03-18-22 | TCU v. Seton Hall | 69-42 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 6 m | Show
The TCU Horned Frogs got an at large bid into the NCAA tournament with a 20-12 finish and despite losing three of their last four games. The Frogs lost in the Big 12 Tournament to Kansas, 62-75, after beating Texas in round 1, 65-60. Seton Hall finished 21-10 and beat Georgetown in their opening conference tourney game before losing to Connecticut, 52-62. Still, Seton Hall finished out winning six of their last seven games and 10 of the last 11, which was good enough to get them in the tournament. Seton Hall will have a big advantage at height in this matchup. That will take away from the TCU offensive rebounding, which has been excellent. Seton Hall also has experience on their side, ranked 21st while TCU is 279th in experience. I like a team with experience and can control the boards, which is just what I expect out of Seton Hall tonight. Play Seton Hall. |

03-18-22 | Davidson +1.5 v. Michigan State | 73-74 | Win | 100 | 20 h 3 m | Show
No 10 Davidson takes on No 7 Michigan State here on Friday in the NCAA Tournament. Davidson hopes to break the one-and-done trend they have had in the NCAA tournament the last four appearances. Michigan State was 22-12 overall and started the season hot at 14-2. However, they slumped in Big 10 play, losing nine of their last 15 regular season conference games. They did turn it around in the Conference tourney, with a pair of wins before losing to Purdue in the semifinals. Davidson was 27-6 and had little issues in their conference. This is a slow paced Davidson team, so they play a very deliberate pace. That translates to top 50 nationally in 2-point shots, 3 point shots and free throws. They also rank 15th in the nation in offensive efficiency. This is a Wildcats team that does everything right on offense, including not turning the ball over. The defense isn't the best, but the MSU offense is very inconsistent. I'm going to take Davidson here today. |
03-18-22 | Iowa State v. LSU -4 | 59-54 | Loss | -110 | 9 h 17 m | Show
out of the Big 12 Conference Tourney in their first matchup to Texas Tech, 41-72. That loss followed losses to Baylor (68-75) and Oklahoma State (36-53). The most distressing is that this offense has really struggled of late and really all year as they ranked 277th nationally in scoring as well as 242nd in 3-point fg's. LSU got knocked out of the SEC Conference tourney in their second game by Arkansas, 67-79. That game after they beat Missouri to open the tournament, 76-68. Iowa State is 2-5 ATS in their last seven NCAA tournament games as a dog. This really looks to be a good matchup for LSU. LSU has the experience and with the Cyclones offensive woes I expect LSU to have little trouble advancing. Take LSU. |
03-18-22 | Wizards v. Knicks -6 | 97-100 | Loss | -110 | 8 h 21 m | Show
Washington Wizards will continue playing without their star shooting guard Bradley Beal, who remains out with a wrist injury. With that being said, it's no wonder the Wizards have lost and failed to cover five straight games. They have also lost eight of their last 10 games. The Wizards are now 15-35-2 their last 52 games vs the spread. Meanwhile, the Knicks improved to 29-40 with their win over Portland last game, 128-98. The Knicks have now covered seven straight games. This all coming for the Knicks after a horrible stretch in February that saw them close the month losing nine of their last 10 games both S/U and ATS. I like the way the Knicks have played of late. Take New York. |
03-18-22 | Chattanooga +8 v. Illinois | 53-54 | Win | 100 | 17 h 15 m | Show
Number 13 Chattanooga takes on No 4 Illinois in the NCAA 1st Round here on Friday. The Chattanooga Mocs were 27-7 overall on the season. The Mocs did great in the Southern Conference, going 14-4 in the league and winning the conference tournament. Illinois lost three of their seven February games and needed to win their final three games to share the Conference title with Purdue and Wisconsin. Despite being the No 1 seed in the Big 10 Tournament, they Fighting Illini were upset by Indiana in the quarterfinals. I expect Chattanooga to keep close here today and with the line around 8-points, that should be more than enough for the Mocs to get the cover. Play Tenn Chatt. |
03-18-22 | Virginia Tech +1.5 v. Texas | 73-81 | Loss | -115 | 15 h 4 m | Show
NCAA first round action today has No 11 Virginia Tech taking on No 6 Texas. The VT Hokies were 23-12 and won the ACC Tournament in Brooklyn, beating Clemson in OT, Notre Dame, N.Carolina and Duke to win the title and auto bid. Texas finished 21-11 and comes into this game losing three in a row and four of the last six. Va Tech got hot down the stretch after starting the season just 10-10. Texas started hot at 12-2 and finished poorly. Don't expect a lot of points here as Va Tech is one of the slowest teams in the country. They also posses the nation's 3rd best 3-point shooting team. Texas is also a slow team but its the defense that is the best part of this Longhorns team. We have the hot Tech team against the slumping Texas team. Can Tech continue that here on Friday? I think they can and I will take the couple of points they are getting. |

03-18-22 | Miami-FL +2 v. USC | 68-66 | Win | 100 | 14 h 48 m | Show
The 10th seeded Miami Hurricanes take on the 7th seeded Trojan of USC in the NCAA 1st Round. Miami is coming off a 23-10 overall record and 14-6 ACC mark. USC was 26-7 overall and also 14-6 in conference play. The Canes narrowly lost to Duke in the ACC Semifinals, 76-80, covering the spread. USC made it all the way to the Elite Eight last year before being knocked out of the NCAA tournament. Miami was a surprise team this year and are a team to not be taken lightly. USC struggled down the stretch an was eliminated by double digits to UCLA in the PAC-12 Semis. Miami has the better offensive unit and while they aren't getting a lot of points, we are getting a few. Play Miami. |
03-18-22 | Loyola-Chicago v. Ohio State | Top | 41-54 | Loss | -110 | 11 h 39 m | Show |
Early Friday action here in the NCAA 1st Round from PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, PA. The Loyola Chicago Ramblers take on Ohio State Buckeyes. The winner of this game likely has a date with Villanova in the next round. Loyola is no stranger to Cinderella runs in the NCAA tournament so don't expect them to shock anyone this year. This team has lots of experience with road and neutral games, playing 17 games on one or the other site. Loyola also comes into today's contest fully healthy. The Loyola defense is their backbone, ranked 29th nationally in scoring defense. They also rank 11th nationally in rebounding. Ohio State started the season red-hot, but down the stretch could only manage a 19-11 record and 4th place in the Big 10. The Buckeyes were just 5-6 away from home this year and 1-2 on a neutral court. I'm going to take Loyola here in what looks currently to be a pick'em game. |
03-17-22 | San Francisco v. Murray State -1.5 | 87-92 | Win | 100 | 22 h 49 m | Show
NCAA Tournament action on Thursday night has No 10 seeded San Francisco Dons taking on the No 7 Murray State Racers from Indianapolis, IN. These were two of the best mid-major teams in the country and it looks like the committee wanted to see which team was better in this head to head matchup. Murray State was 30-2 and had a huge win this year on the road over Memphis. One of their two losses coming to Auburn. The Racers sped through the Ohio Valley Conference undefeated at 18-0 including the tourney win. San Francisco was 24-9 at got the at large bid into the tourney. The Dons started the season strong at 10-0, but just 14-9 the rest of the way. They also lost all five meetings with WCC powerhouses Gonzaga and St Marys this year. San Francisco has a very good team, but I believe this Murray State team can go far in the tournament. Murray laying just two-points here looks like a bargain to me. Play Murray State. |
03-17-22 | South Dakota State +2.5 v. Providence | 57-66 | Loss | -110 | 16 h 16 m | Show
NCAA Tourney action begins it's drive to the Finals here with this early game on Thursday between South Dakota State and Providence. No 13 seeded South Dakota State Jackrabbits were 30-4 overall and one of the best scoring teams in college basketball. In fact, they had the 12th most efficient offense in all the country this year. They are ranked 1st in the country in 3 point FG% (44.2%). The Providence Friars will have their hands full with this offense. The Friars finished the season at 25-5 overall. The question for the friars is how will they respond after being blowout out by Creighton in the Big East Tournament. In fact, Providence lost two of their last three games. I expect a close game here on Thursday, but I like the Jackrabbits in an upset win. |
