Navy: It’s hard to single out one player during the Midshipmen’s 23-21 win over Notre Dame. It’s the second time in the past three years that Navy has pulled off the upset and this win makes the Mids bowl eligible.
Matt Hogan, K, Houston: Kicked a 51-yard field goal as time expired to give the Cougars to a 46-45 victory against Tulsa.
Margus Hunt, DE, SMU: Hunt had two blocked kicks — a blocked PAT and a blocked FG — and now has six blocked kicks on the season (3 PATs, 3 FGs), setting the SMU season record for blocked kicks. His six season blocks tie for fifth in NCAA history for a season.
Case Keenum, QB, Houston: Threw for 522 yards on 40 for 60 passing with three touchdown passes in a wild 46-45 win over Tulsa. It was his second straight game with more than 500 yards passing.
Max Hall, QB, BYU: Completed 20 of 22 passes for 312 yards and four touchdowns in the Cougars’ 52-0 win over Wyoming. Hall put up those numbers in less than four quarters of work.
Joe Webb, QB, UAB: Accounted for 412 of the Blazers 622 yards of total offense and six touchdowns in a 56-29 win over Florida Atlantic.
Greg James, S, Louisiana-Monroe: Picked off three passes against North Texas to become the Sun Belt Conference’s and ULM’s all-time interception leader and regained the lead among active players in the NCAA with 16 career interceptions.
BYU defense: Held Wyoming scoreless for the second consecutive season and grabbed three turnovers in a 52-0 win. The Cougars gave the Cowboys their most lopsided loss since BYU beat them in 1985.
Leon Wright-Jackson, RB, Hawaii: Ran for a career-high 167 yards and three touchdowns to help Hawaii end a six-game losing streak with a 49-36 victory over Utah State.
TCU rushing game: Rushed for more than 300 yards for the second consecutive game. It’s the first back-to-back 300-yard games since 2000.
HONORABLE MENTION
Brandon West, RB, Western Michigan: Had 262 all-purpose yards despite his team managing just 211 in a loss to Michigan State. He became NCAA Division I FBS record holder for career kick return yards with 3,045.
LaGregory Sapp, WR, Louisiana-Monroe: Had seven catches for a career-high 187 yards in the Warhawks win at North Texas. It was the most receiving yards by a ULM player in six seasons. He also caught two touchdown passes — the first multi-touchdown game of his career.
Donald Buckram, RB, UTEP: Accounted for 343 total yards and four touchdowns in a 45-38 overtime loss to Tulane. Of those yards, 234 came on the ground.
Greg Salas, WR, Hawaii: Had 10 catches for 187 yards and two touchdowns in a 49-36 win over Utah State.
Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno State: Rushed for 143 yards and three touchdowns as Fresno State defeated Idaho 31-21. It’s his ninth consecutive 100-yard game.
Ryan Griffin, QB, Tulane: Completed 66.6 percent of his passes for 278 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-tying score with 1 second remaining to help the Green Wave to a 45-38 overtime win over UTEP.
Kevin Fogler, WR, Air Force: Had three catches for 129 yards, which is a rarity for an Air Force receiver, in a 35-7 win over rival Army.
Chad Spann, RB, Northern Illinois: Had 11 carries for 174 yards and two scores to lead NIU to a 50-6 win over Eastern Michigan.
Bernard Pierce, RB, Temple: Rushed 40 times for 178 yards and three touchdowns to help lead the Owls to a 34-32 win over Miami-Ohio. It was Temple’s seventh consecutive win.
Tyler Sheehan, QB, Bowling Green: Threw the game-winning touchdown pass 18 yards to Freddie Barnes with 38 second remaining in a 30-29 win over Buffalo. Sheehan also scored the touchdown prior to that on a rush.
Eddie Wide, RB, Utah: Rushed for 145 yards and two scores to notch his sixth consecutive 100 yards game in a 45-7 win over New Mexico.
Shawn Southward, RB, Troy: Ran for 140 yards and four touchdowns in Troy’s 40-20 victory over Western Kentucky. He rushed for 127 of those yards in the second half.
Kejuan Jakes, QB, Western Kentucky: Led the Hilltoppers with 121 yards and a touchdown rushing and 185 yards and a score passing. He had 269 of the Hilltopper’s 310 first-half yards.
Lance Kelley, S, Louisiana-Lafayette: Made the game-saving interception with 2:52 left to stop an Arkansas State rally and preserve a Louisiana-Lafayette 21-18 victory.
Curtis Steele, RB, Memphis: Was the lone bright spot in a 56-28 rout by Tennessee as he rushed for 144 yards and two scores.
James Cleveland, WR, Houston: Had 12 catches for 167 yards, including a catch on the final drive that helped set up the game-winning field goal. He also had three touchdowns.
Ryan Colburn, QB, Fresno State: Completed all 14 of his passes for 159 yards and a score in a 31-21 win over Idaho.
