The 4-5 New York Jets take on the 6-3 New England Patriots this Sunday in a Week 11 AFC East Division battle. Last week, the Jets had to endure a heartbreaking loss when a Josh Scobee field goal gave the Jags a 24-22 win. The Patriots had to endure a heartbreaking defeat as well, blowing a 17-point lead to fall 35-34 to Indy. Coach Belichick’s decision to go for it on fourth down deep in his own territory has been a big topic of debate all week. These two rivals last met back in Week 2 with New York earning a 16-9 victory, but the Patriots have still won four of the last six meetings. This series has been a good one over the years with New York holding a slim 50-49-1 lead all-time. The books have listed the New England Patriots as a 10.5-point favorite with the total set at 45.

The first time these two teams faced off this season the Patriots weren’t able to do much of anything offensively. They were held to just 83 yards on the ground and just 216 yards through the air. The key to New England’s offense is the running game. When teams have to respect the run, it opens things up that much more for Randy Moss and Wes Welker. New England has discovered its running game over its last four contests with Laurence Maroney doing most of the damage. He now has a rushing touchdown in four straight games and it is worth noting that the Patriots are 15-2 when he has a rushing touchdown.

Randy Moss was held to a season-low 24 yards in his first meeting against the Jets with Darrelle Revis winning the battle all afternoon. Don’t be surprised if Moss, who leads the Pats with 58 catches for 891 yards and seven touchdowns, pays him back Sunday. It is worth noting that the Patriots are an impressive 20-5-1 ATS in their last 26 games following a loss. If you like New England to bounce back at home this week with a win of 11 points or more, bet the Patriots at -10.5 at Bookmaker.

Mark Sanchez is a different quarterback than he was last time he faced the Patriots, and not in a good way.  In the first meeting, it was just his second professional game, and he was very confident after playing well in a blowout over the Texans in the season opener.  Sanchez was riding high early on after helping New York get out to a 3-0 start, but he hasn’t looked nearly as good since. And New York’s play calling would indicate that the coaching staff doesn’t have as much confidence in him either. In fact, Sanchez has thrown just five touchdowns compared to 10 interceptions since those first three games and the team has gone just 1-5 as a result. The Jets would like to rely on their running game which ranks first in the NFL this week. The Jets are averaging 170.1 rushing yards per game and they face a defense that has allowed 4.5 yards per rush this season. However, I don’t expect coach Bill Belichick to let the ground game beat him. Mark Sanchez is going to have to play well Sunday for the Jets to pull off the upset. It is worth noting that the Jets are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as an underdog and the Patriots are just 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games as a home favorite of 10.5 or more points. If you think New York has what it takes to play the Patriots close, bet the Jets at +10.5 at Bookmaker.
